Response to First Part - "ACTIVE"

E is a very active child, though not in the same way as J. J's activity is focused energy. She has a purpose or a task to complete or some quota to meet. E on the other hand moves for movements sake. She is a frenzied child and just watching her makes me tired. She gets more out of control ofher body when she is tired...for example, today we went to the mall to look at the pet store. During our time there, I noticed E was running in a sort of mad manner, sometimes running in place or jumping up as she strode and then she would poke at people inthe aisles or stick her hands where they shouldn't be...along with scooting under the displays to ferret out open bags or boxes of chemical or rocks stopping only to sample the stuff. She then moved to the tanks and had to sort of dart at them. She gets more manic when she is tired. J just crashes, E is a whirling dirvish and will not unwind at all. Eventually, like tonight, I pick her up and she cries, usually for up to 20 minutes. Just cries. And I let her. But it can be hard to listen to...though I know her body has to relieve itself of the stress.

We are doing some relaxation breathing with her, but to get her to sit still long enough to practice it is a whole freaking waste of time most of the time...so I keep experimenting.

K.
