Response to Paulinia Tree (Empress)

Barbara,

I really don't know a thing about the Paulinia tree, but I know a lot about mail order nurseries and outlandish promises. Don't get me started!

But I am sure your trees need the same exact thing that all trees need. Good rich soil that is well drained. Watered as needed, but not over watered. As far as fertilizer is concerned, I never fertilize the plants in my landscape. They just don't need it.

I see a lot of ads for mail order plants and I just roll my eyes.

Doesn't mean that you have bad plants, it just means that in your climate they are only going to grow "so" fast. Whether or not they ever flower as promised is another guess.

The best thing you can do for them is fertilize with something organic. They'll like that and it won't burn them.
