Response to mulching

many articles i've read & from my own personal experience, the easiest, most nutritious & CHEAPEST mulch is compost. composting is not hard to do. layer green grass clippings, leaves & twigs, kitchen scraps (not meats or fats), cardboard & shredded papers, scrape some top soil from under old leaves (composted remnants of the dead leaves) & pile that on. repeat this layering. keep it moist, but not sogged. pile this up to about 4" high, turn the pile every month or so & let mother nature do the rest. soon your pile will be the best mulch in town. 2 inches of this will keep weeds down & feed your plants. happy growing!
