What I've tried in early June with soft wood cuttings

Response to Re: soft wood cuttings in propagation system won't root for me :(

Burning bush
Periscaria (red dragon)
Barberry bush
Magnolia (Royal Star)
various junipers
Red Japanese Maple
Heritage River Birch
Rose of Sharon
Privet Bush
Accolade Elm Tree
Fernleaf Buckthorn
Red Buckeye Tree
Redbud Tree
Poplar Tree

I may have missed a couple - but that's enough to help you know what I've tried. You are right, that the second time I tried, I did not wait long enough. But all the cuttings seemed to be wilting, despite that I kept them watered.

I used 50/50 play sand with soilless growing medium (no nitrogen) within a "fish tank and box" set up constructed as per your instructions. Too much sand?

I kept the fish tank cover on for a week in a semi-shady area; then, moved the box-bed to sunny area and took off the tank.

I hope you're able to diagnose my lack of success by these details. Thanks soooo much!
