Fern propagation

You can find some larger clumps of the ferns you want and divide them up and plant in the other areas you want the ferns to grow. Most types will spread from rhizomes (underground stems). If get the divisions to grow, they should gradually spread and take over the area, but I'm not sure if they will ever get thick enough to eliminate your weed-wacking.
