The problem with science is that it is conducted by individuals who tend to be Left-Hemisphere dominant, and this means they think in linear terms.

As a consequence they miss some really obvious things that those who have use of both hemispheres are able to "see".

The assumptions of the Left-Hemisphere individual, being linear, would not imagine that a "smart" monkey could live on other islands as well. The assumption that what one is observing is the only occurrence of that being observed is linear.

But what really is missing in science and the Left-Hemisphere dominant individual is Knowledge that the brain is the most limited faculty Man has available for seeking knowledge. Intuition is far more useful, truthful, accurate, and is not subject to the subtle influence of ones MIND as it interferes with ones search for Truth.

To worship one-third of Man [while denying two-thirds of Man] is sad in many ways.

Peace

Yes! Brain is not mind. Surgeons can operate on limited, objective brain, but not on limitless, subjective mind. Mind, our Christ within, is destined for identification with Cosmos...limitless Cosmos. Mind, the bridge from animal instinct to Cosmic mind. The Bible could say, "No instinctual animal-man can achieve Cosmic identification without mind and its evolution from quality to quality."

When the mind 'reels' ...........................

April 21 2008, 12:44 PM

.....the sharing of spirituality is being made far too difficult, imo.

We can keep it as simple as we want or make it as difficult as we want.

I am 'with' Henry David Thoreau whe he says:

"My desire for knowledge is intermittent; but my desire to commune with the spirit of the universe, to be intoxicated with the fumes, call it, of that divine nectar, to bear my head through atmospheres and over heights unknown to my feet, is perennial and constant."

Knowledge is fun and interesting but to LIVE in communion with Spirit, well, that's pretty much all that is required, imo.

Many Paths............

Yep, my head is reeling as well, Dori.

Well, with two such learned fellas in the

mystic realm, I don't suppose it is unusual to be a bit overwhelmed. But that doesn't scare me away from wanting to know more. You and Dave are newer to me in your thoughts on spirituality, but I do enjoy reading what you have to say and learning from all who post here. Smoooches to you, my sweet ethereal wisp.

thinking

Dori the brain thinks, not the MIND.

The MIND feeds delusional thoughts to the brain, but these have to be converted from MIND-level energy into brain-level energy, and the brain, unable to differentiate between these thoughts, "thinks" that it is the originator of all its thoughts.

How does one differentiate between these? By use of one intuition, one can subtly check out the veracity of ones thoughts as to "motive" for the thought. If honest, or congruent with events taking place then the thought is likely ones brain, if in denial in any way of what is taking place, then its clearly ones MIND.

aha!

That was the problem, then.... I was letting my brain get involved instead of my mind. I think I veer in and out between the two. I suppose the training of the mind is a gradual process that is always being impeded by the brain.

yet another reality

We differ slightly in that I view MIND as being created by God to serve various functions, and thus MIND is not an Absolute like God, or the Spiritual region.

Thinking in non-linear terms

Obviously, if thinking is NOT linear, then it is curved, maybe even "crooked"? [LAUGHS]
