Found this cleaning out a box of "stuff" over the weekend. He was so darn cute!

Such a cute. Snazzy frame, too! So, how did the name, Marfin, come about?

The name Marfin

January 8 2008, 6:30 AM

comes from many years ago when I made a sound like a hare-lipped dog barking. It came out like "marf" - and grew to Marfin which I named a stuffed doggy. As soon as I saw this fluffy little puppy, I immediately said, "what a cute little marfin" and it became his name. His full name is Marfin the Marvelous.

Had a stuffed dog when I was a kid

January 8 2008, 7:34 AM

named Rugsy because, well, he was the same color as the rug in the living room and that's where I was when I opened the box he was in on Christmas morning. So far I haven't named a breathing dog Rugsy, but the thought has crossed my mind. I really, really want to name a dog Gladys because I think it would be an incredibly cool dog name, but I don't think I will get that one past Cherokee.

Happy Hannah

January 8 2008, 2:09 PM

When I was little, I got a stuffed animal in a gift shop in a motel in NY state. It became the start of a large collection of small plush dogs that all had Hannah as a last name.I would line them up along side me in bed when I went to sleep. When I got my first Golden, my mother suggested the name Hannah and so it was.I still have that wretched looking and much loved stuffed animal. Hannah was a very special Golden Retriever in my life.

No - Marfin does not travel well.

January 9 2008, 6:04 AM

He stayed home w/ Sonny Boy and Sweetie Pie. I got home on the 3rd. However, my PC hard drive crashed and I have not gotten around to getting it fixed or replaced yet (tried a low-end HP for two days and brought it back due to performance issues). Only able to post from work until I get off the dime and get my Dell fixed...

when he was about 6 years old! Managed to throw the smelly old thing out when we moved to Houston...He still hasn't forgiven me for that.
