The game on here works with no problems in WINEMU.

Are you remembering to enter the SYS code.

Re:Finger Malone.

by Lando

Just for the books, all games on my site work.
Some do need SYS codes from basic or G codes from the machine code monitor.

Check out the gameindex for some more info.

Maybe some games like this will be tap images and all this SYS stuff wont be needed, going back to the good old days of PRESS PLAY ON TAPE

O.S.' bugs ;-)

by

Hi there,
I've planned to write a manual about the original Plus/4 O.S. known bugs.
Could you all signal to me what you have discovered?

At today:
a) Bugs after SCRATCH use;
b) Bugs exiting Monitor with charset on RAM

Thanx for collaboration.

Sorry I cant give you any help, but a very intresting subject.

I was wondering if there were any things changed with later modles?
I have had about 6 or so Revision "D" Plus/4 mother boards and all DEAD.

Did Commodore roll out cheaper versions of the Plus4 later on in production?

It would be cool to know which revision has lasted the test of time

I know one...

by

... which is quite obvious but not necessarily can be accounted as a "bug". On plus/4 when you load a C16 program that has the reset and IRQ vector copied over at $3FF6-3FFF, if you push the reset button, the ROM will think that you are only having 12k RAM!! So, it will come up showing 12277 BYTES FREE only which is obviously fake...

Here's one in the Basic tokenizer

by

Try entering the empty Basic line "135244". As the number is too large, the computer will respond with "?SYNTAX ERROR".

Now try entering the line "352444"...

As far as I know this bug has existed since the Vic20. It's due to a wrong label: instead of jumping to $8E27, it jumps incorrectly to $8E23 - or viceversa, I'm typing this based on my recollection from so many years ago.

Is there a WINEMU help/FAQ for loading 5.25 disks?

by Peter

Hi

I'm totally new to the world of PLUS4 but I have some 5.25" floppys created with a real PLUS4 and want to load them onto the WINEMU emulator and later save them onto the PC.

It must be so obvious just how to do this that it has passed me by.

Thanks.

Star Commander

by Lando

Your need an XE1541 cable to connect to your PC and 1541 floppy drive.

Star Commander is the software to copy the disks or files from Floppy to PC.

http://sta.c64.org/sc.html

Download Star Commander and the txt files should help you find out what you need for your PC.

X1541 cable

by

If you own an "old" PC, then you are lucky!
Because you can use an easy-to-(self)made X1541 cable instead of a more complex XE1541.
If you have a Pentium I, II, III or ... then you can bypass the problem simply adding a good "old" multi I/O ISA card (in this case you will use the 2nd or 3rd LPT).

I supply these info because I started become crazy with my PC Pentium and X1541 cable.

i thought c16 was unkown

by

heh, i have like only 3 games for my c16. i mostly used to just mess around with basic. but then i couldn't even save that stuff cause i didn't have the tape drive. But i thought it was still cool till i got my nintendo. I had to setup my dedicated c16 memories page.

It's very sad that i have memories of this machine.

You missed so much :-)

by

The C16 was a great little machine!!

I also had one with tape and josyticks and later with disk drive and printer as well... Oh yeah and its memory was expanded to 64K...

I've never seen that great looking box of the C16. I had a very different one which will be uploaded to my site soon, as I find the time to scan the picture.

It would be great to be able to dump those C16 Tutor cartridges of yours to save them for the future... Any possibility to do it?

by

Well the cartridge is at my parents house right now. They only live a block away from me though. But i dont have a cartridge dumper, and id hate to see the cartridge leave me. The c16 tutor cart is just one cart and it really didn't have much to it, just taught you all the functions on the keyboard.

This is a matter of computer archaeology now!
We must conserve what we have for future generations! It's not just a matter of usefulness already.

For example, I'd be glad to make your Tutor Cart working in my C16/+4 emulator...

Dumping is not a big deal if you have the right person!! So, please!!!!! :-)))))

But...

by

Being the big emulation Fan that i am, and i am a big fan. I update emualtion news at uwizone.com, i have my own little NES emulation site, for I love my NES and i hate to have the thing break down. Which is why i play the games on computer now. it's just that i definatly want this cart back in one piece and working condition. But also shipping costs money. I Live in Racine, WI, USA. I have no clue where i am sending this thing. Plus, You have to be kidding me taht this cart is not dumped. Didn't it come with all C16s? Id love to have this thing dumped, but it's just the fear of losing it and the money it will cost me. But now that i think of it, it's not even being used. My C16 wont last very much longer. i dont use it because of that fear. If i didn't get it back, it would only be a sentimental loss. but im sure you wouldn't mind paying the shipping for it to send it back. LEt me know with some info and stuff and i will consider it.

Oops, I got this wrong?

by

Sorry, I am not able to dump this either
Besides I live in Europe, Hungary, so...
If this a sentimental thing it's better to keep it under lock Just thought, if you have the opportunity to dump it, let's have it till eternity Maybe, you can wait until you meet someone nearby you, who is able to do it!

Well, the cart itself actually did not come with all C16s!! Mine had not any cartridges, only two tapes and two books... Furthermore, the box case was largely different... After all, it was a different market here

Getting ROM's...

by

If you can hook up the C16 to a PC, and the ROM does not take over the machine the way jack attack does, but is more like the 3-plus-1 software... then its easy to dump, without killing the cart.

when you say "taking over the machine" im assume you mean as soon as you turn on the machine the game is there. And yes it does that. All 4 of my small collection of carts do that. Does that make them undumpable?

I sure did. If it sucked I took it back saying it would`nt load and taking a new game away. I never copyed anything !!

What was cool was a big retal shop had a plus4 on show so I loaded the games in and tryed them before even going home. And was easyer to take the games back if they were lamo

I used to hate the games with out NOVA LOAD as this took longer to load and hoped no one would notice what I was doing.

I think Sola Software was top of the list for going back

Many times

by Shuffler

Done this many times, even got to the stage of
erasing part of the tape to make sure it wouldn't
load.

This was due to the shop having computers hidden
in the back where they would test any games that
would be deemed to be faulty. Or games brought
back because they were crap.

Whooh.

by Lando

Erasing part of the tape was a bit naughty

I remember it took some time before they cought on to what was going on. In time WHSmiths soon put posters up saying you could only swap it for the same game

With todays games they seem abit easyer to take back. After all 30-40 pounds is alot of money and if they want your custom they give in.

Gone are the days when you bought more than 1 game aweek.

Wndows Commander Plugin for .D64 files

by

Hi all,

I started a D64 'packer' plugin for Windows Commander 4.x (www.ghisler.com)
to make the handling with .D64 files easier (just like .zip archives).
The plan ist to make full support for extracting of .prg files from .D64,
copying of files into .D64 and create new .D64 files.

Now I am preliminary done with extracting of .prg files (with no error detection).

I would appreciate any interested WinCmd users to test the plugin on different machines / .D64 files.
If you are interested, send me an e-mail and I will send the current version to you.

Of course the plugin will be released for free and posted to Lando's and other
Plus4 (and C64) sites when also write support is done.

Hay all...

I just found out that i can have extra domains of of this (like minus4.plus4.net etc...)

I know most of you guys have sites from emuviews.com or emucamp etc.. but does anyone want a link from

?????.plus4.net?

This doesn't mean you have to move your site, or change anything... its just another way of getting to your site. I'd kind of like to get all the emulators with this, since its a fairly easy way to find them.. but I didn't want to do it without asking...

But it goes for all plus4 sites.. Im not sure if theres any kind of limit yet... I've tried over 10 and that was fine... but there may be an upper limit.. but since its there... I may as well use it.

Im working on getting email as well, since I fairly sure email@plus4.net should be possible too...

Please let me know what ya all think...

My old plus/4 gave up the ghost a while back. One day I will get round to finding out what has died and try to get spares(!?). Up until it died, my mum used to drive the rest of the family nuts by playing Jack Attack continuously. ( and I do mean continuously! )

WinEMU rocks for me, because I can play using a keyboard. My mum, however, can't. Are there any plans to get some kind of joystick/game-device input working for WinEMU (or its ilk)?

Vice can wait

What I really would like to see is the C64 version of .tap files up and running for Plus4 emu`s. I hope the author of the cool Mtap can sort something out soon as I sent hime some Plus4 .tap`s made the C64 way to play with. All thats needed is the .tap supported by the emu`s.
