Central District Tryouts Coming Up

Can someone shed some light on the process/experience. I understand that if you make the first cut you are required to attend a camp in May in WIsconsin? Is this another money-pit or is this worthwhile?

my son, a 94, tried out last year & was selected. he was not required to go to the camp, but if he choose not to go, they would have selected another player to take his spot. for some reason though, i thought that some kids had to go in order to attend another camp or to represent our area at some other event - unfortunately, i don't remember the details of that since my son was not one of those players (they might have been the bantam majors?)

last year the camp was a full week long in iowa, which we paid about $600 + the charter bus ride of about $200. i think the camp this year is only 3 days - maybe i am wrong about that??

my son did enjoy it, but he didn't know anyone really, but he made friends while there (he was 14 at the time). even if you go to the camp with other kids that you know, it doesn't guarantee that they will play on the same team once they are up there
