Making it to the "next level"

Rather than bleeding into the 94 AAA thread, why don't we go on a reality bender on how it is made to the higher levels.

First of all, midgets is when the real seperation happens and either the cream rises to the top or not. At midgets there are a couple of viable ways to make it, play Tier I or Jr A and be a very good player on those teams. So yes my friends, it is either the Amatuer Blues or the Jr. Blues. Name me one player who has made it to the "next level" without being on one of those teams.

By the way, since the Amatuer Blues got in the MWEHL which is no doubt the premier leauge in the country, more players are opting for the Amatuer Blues than the Jr. Blues.
Just to make it clear for some of you. Amatuer Blues- Tier I AAA organization. Jr. Blues- Tier III Jr A program.

Now, many players were developed through central states or other Tier II teams, but to actually make it to that next level, you choose one of those two paths listed above.

Lots of kids do the tier II thing and then when it comes to midgets and when it really matters, they choose one of the two options. It just the natural progession.

I do get a kick out of the draft list. Do you know how that is put together? Oh do tell, I am sure it was from "scouts" hanging around on Gravois road! LOL

Actually, you get on the draft list by being invited to showcase tournaments in Toronto, Minnesota, Detroit, etc. where scouts are attending. The scouts, if interested, then follow the kids noticed and puts them on the draft list after watching several tournaments. You are correct, midgets is where it happens . . . . . and it doesn't matter where you have played before because there can be lots of "surprises" at midgets. Hopefully all midget age kids will tryout for everything available to them because you never know.

I think you are a bit naive. Who is the scout for this region for that league? I will give you a hint- he also coaches a u18AAA team. Give up yet? It's Gino Cavallini. Gino can put anyone he wants on that list.

What a nice little piece of leverage-hey kid I am a scout for the next level want to play on my team?

That aside, lets look at the numbers.
There are 12 teams in that league...
There are over 1500 kids on the 92, 93 and 94 lists....
Do the math.

Let us also not forget the politics possible in the short term. Some of the picks for the select camps have been a complete and total joke. Anyone with half a brain and knows the situations knows that. However, in the short term politics is possible, but in the long term the players with the talent will actually make it up the ladder.

Midgets is where it at as far as seperating the men from the boys. And all's you have to do is see how the staff's and teams shake out this coming year to know that.

At the end of the day talent where take the kids where it takes them, in the meantime many parents are pulling rabbits out of the hat in the short term.
