No Tier I players to play mid states eventually?

I hear there is a ground swell to not let Tier I players play high school hockey. Some clubs are rumored to not let them play this coming year and the clubs will surprise you.

Maybe some day just like Chicago high school hockey Tier I players are not allowed to play.

Just to save the normal response, dont get mad at us and ban us just because we are not benders.

High school hockey is a bender and goon league already. This will just make it more of a show

i hope it would be a rule here-high school hockey is nothing but a burden to AAA players because they feel pressure to help there school team

The rule in Chicago that denied AAA players from being on HS teams
made HS hockey so much better for a long time.

Actually, two years ago, AHAI removed the rule that prohibited AAA
players from playing in HS hockey. Guess how many AAA players
took advantage of that change ? Answer: 0. No AAA coach would
allow their players to participate on HS teams, so the rule change
was a non-issue.

Best thing that could happen to HS hockey in STL would be to not
allow AAA players, or Tier I and II players to particiipate.

9:14 try doing the math. Currently there are 43 HS teams if you figure 17 players per team average (which is probably low), that is 731 players. Many teams have a full roster of 25 players. This is only keeping out 40 players, 20 from MM AAA and 20 from mm AAA. Maybe a few from bantam major AAA.

And as many have stated, they believe HS is a bender league, so why play down?

THIS WOULD HURT THE SMALLER SCHOOLS WHO ARE LUCKY TO HAVE 12 SKATERS AND MAY BE FORTUNATE TO HAVE A TIER 1 OR 2 ON THEIR TEAM.

The original post was about Tier I players only, nobody is saying to exclude Tier II players except one poster. This will only HELP the smaller schools. Go down the list and tell me how many Tier I players are actualy playing in divisions such as the South or North who are the ones struggling to field teams. I'd be surprised if you found 2.

It would definitely make things much more interesting. Some teams that made it to the playoffs didn't have a AAA player on them. A rule like this would certainly hurt CBC, didn't they have the most AAA players on their roster?

this would hurt ALL metro teams, which is exactly why it will not happen. I would bet that more than 60% of the MM & Mm AAA players attend one of the metro schools.

I guess you would be surprised then to hear that the metro coaches are the ones most favorable to excluding AAA players. AAA players are nothing but a pain in the ass for HS coaches. In spite of thier talent, a lot of coaches feel they would be better off without them.

And for the idiots that don't know the terminology:

AAA = Tier I

Central States and all youth club hockey = Tier II

The thinking is to prohibit only Tier I players, not Tier II, so CS players would not be prohibited from playing Midstates.

What if a player has played Tier 1 in the past but no longer does. Does it have to be a player currently on a AAA Roster?

8:12 yes only for that current season

5:49 yes that is surprising, but not shocking. I can only imagine that those players could be a distraction, one that I'm sure a lot of coaches would put up with though. If is going to happen, Metro coaches will need to be on board. I will be shocked if this actually happens.

Look for at least one of the metro teams to enforce this for the upcoming year.

This thread is moronic....it will never happen, someone is just stirring up trouble. If you don't allow Tier I players how about the Jr. Blues players?

If there really is a Metro team that is not going to allow Tier I players, the only thing that will happen is the players affected will choose a different school. All the Metro schools offer excellent academic programs so choosing a school based on hockey is not as crazy as it sounds unless you have a kid headed for the U High and I really doubt they are the team that is considering this move.

My guess the team kicking the idea around is Chaminade, they have a high rate of team dysfunction going on there and I am sure the bender parents think this will solve everything...
