4 new players. the MN kid stays with the team. |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 AAA | May 27 2009, 6:33 AM |
Very intereting to me that the most successful youth team ever in St. Louis changed four players and no one has said a thing. That many players change at 95 AAA or any other team for that matter and parents are bitching left and right. And those teams have had no success relatively speaking. |

What's the connection with Minnesota? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | 96AAA | May 27 2009, 10:22 AM |
Minnesota is an island, the powers there think they are God's gift to the Hockey world, and won't allow Tier 1 hockey there. Some families prefer options that they don't provide, after the 96 Wisc. Fire folded the players had gotten a taste of winter AAA Hockey and felt this Hockey is a better development choice. And when St. Louis Blues has as much sucsess as they have had, some players will gravitate to a sucsessful program. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96AAA | May 27 2009, 10:35 AM |
Yes but it is just a bummer that we are developing there players instead of our own from St Louis. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96AAA | May 27 2009, 10:53 AM |
8:51: you will see out of towners sending their kids to top AAA teams, particularly in the Major years (for Nationals). I thought the Norman kid might go back to MN but, not only is he staying for his Bantam Minor season, the team, apparently, has added another MN player. It wouldn't surprise me if yet another ships in for next year's Major season. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96AAA | May 27 2009, 11:35 AM |
or maybe eight or nine! When you have that talent pool, the possibilities are endless. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96AAA | May 27 2009, 12:07 PM |
10:53 thanks for the clarification. So basically the family moves here and is a full participant, that makes a lot more sense. I agree that I would prefer STL kids but if I'm picking the team, I'm picking the best players available to me. |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96AAA | May 27 2009, 12:56 PM |
The team is way better than last year. The size is indimidating and I bet wthey will have a better record. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96AAA | May 27 2009, 1:38 PM |
12:36....moving to STL was after the fact.....he was team shopping....tried out at other places, would have moved to any of them, once he made the team.
The point I think people are making is that AAA and CS should focus on helping STL kids get to the next level, not just picking an all-star team from all over the US. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96AAA | May 27 2009, 1:52 PM |
Now I am confused. So St. Louis is now their primary place of residence? They were transfering due to change in employment or something, Sold their home in MN and hockey was a secondary concideration. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96AAA | May 27 2009, 1:54 PM |
Does it matter? No the kid made the team they are now moving to St Louis. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96AAA | May 27 2009, 2:07 PM |
1:52 sounds like hockey was the primary consideration. To each their own. Moving from MN to MO for hockey seems like the oposite of what most would think would happen to advance. I guess the best team in the country is the best teamn in the country. |

It is only the arrogance of the St. Louis AAA parents that they would consider a player moving here to play hockey is a better option that playing in the Twin Cities. Long a hockey hotbed the opportunities abound in that hockey community. In Minnesota AAA hockey is available in the spring and summer months, and the level of play during the winter months in the Minnesota leagues and tournaments rival the best of any AAA hockey league. Moving to St. Louis to play AAA hockey is not a smart move for any talented skater from the metro Twin cities area. Look at the number of high school players drafted in the USHL (26) and the number of St. louis AAA players (4). Stats don't lie. |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96AAA | May 29 2009, 8:16 AM |
I am waiting for some knucklehead on here to suggest that AAA must be districted to Missouri only....sounds like we are only a hop, skip, and a jump. Its all about putting the best teams together and if someone is willing to uproot their lives to come here then so be it. Nobody faulted the Janssen for leaving STL to play up North of the border. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96AAA | May 29 2009, 9:15 AM |
I don't think anybody "faults" anyone from heading north to advance a hockey career. Just seems odd that someone would go "south" to advance a hockey career when you are in one of the top areas in the country for that sport. But hey, it is a free country, you are entitled to do as you wish regardless of what people think on N54. |

If someone is going to move to St. Louis to play bantam minor aaa hockey with no possibility of nationals, then they probably are either loaded or they have a job lined up here or both. Unless they are stupid which is always a possibility. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96AAA | May 29 2009, 10:07 AM |
The chance to play for Al MacInnis is worth the move by itself. I don't think you'll find kids moving down at the other ages, I think it's unique to the 96 level because of Al. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96AAA | May 29 2009, 10:26 AM |
Or maybe he's an early 96 and doesn't want to play PW...or maybe they have some other compelling reason to which you're not privy. A new player comes to town, perhaps you might consider saying "Welcome". |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96AAA | May 29 2009, 10:29 AM |
10:26 unless the rules are different in MN he can NOT play PW. Per USA hockey it is by birth year and 96's are Bantams. |

12:24- you are correct except your grid is from last year.
My post was that he is a Bantam per USA Hockey and is not as one poster said being allowed to play up, he is a Bantam if he is a 1996 birth year.
|
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 AAA | May 29 2009, 3:32 PM |
12:12 you stated "1029 Wrong. USA Hockey allows kids to play up in an older age group. So he could play Bantams"
my post at 10:29 stated "10:26 unless the rules are different in MN he can NOT play PW. Per USA hockey it is by birth year and 96's are Bantams."
So NO I'M NOT WRONG, per USA hockey rules he would be playing "down" at PW. However as a nother poster stated and as I suggested, the rules appear to be different in MN.

Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 AAA | May 29 2009, 8:34 PM |
Minnesota does not compete at the national level so they can set their age levels to anything they want. Presently Minnesota PeeWee's for next year would be July 1 1996 and younger, they play levels in two year increments so all 97's and the second 1/2 year of 98's will be PeeWee's. A PeeWee could move up to play Bantams and it does happen but you are at the mercy of the local association and believe me there is incredable politics to not allow kids to move up, no matter how good the kid is. And this is one of the main reasons RN is playing in St. Louis. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 AAA | May 29 2009, 8:49 PM |
Thanks Todd for the FYI, but you really need to get a life outside of RN. Its best for the both of you. Maybe consider getting a J O B. |

How dare kids from other parts of the country move to our beloved city for hockey or whatver reason they want to move hear. The solutions for these scaliwags taking spots from our beloved st louis kids is very simple. We should put together a St. Louis quiz and if kids do not get a passing grade they are not eligible for Al's team.
Here is a sampling of the questions:
1) What are toasted raviolis?
2) Name three Ted Drewe's flavors?
3) Name one of the municipalities that a lot of rich people live in?
4) How many times have the blues been to the stanley cup finals?
5) What is Imo's?
6) How important is it to know where people went/are in high school?
7) Name four St. Louis ice rinks?
we could go on and on. But how dare these mercenaries take the roster spots of our little superstars!
|
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 AAA | May 30 2009, 10:13 AM |
Dumb post. Bottom line is that Al will go anywhere to find talent for his team and rich parents with a little superstar will come from anywhere to play for him. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 AAA | May 30 2009, 10:18 AM |
10:13---Last time I checked this was America. Parents and kids are free to do what they want. Word to the wise, if a few out of town kids "took" your kids roster spot, he will probably have more fun playing tier II anyway. |

Here we go again with some Affton guy trying to take credit for a kid that went on to play AAA. If my info is correct he was at Affton 1 year and St. Peters 2 years before that. Also plays a lot of roller. So maybe it was St. Peters or Roller hockey that developed the kid, not Affton.
How about this - maybe the kid matured and just did it on his own? |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 AAA | July 19 2009, 8:32 AM |
It is the same every year. Al changes 2-4 players and just keeps on winning. People say he made mistakes in his picks (gee I wonder if those are the same people who are no longer on the team) and the team just keeps on going well.
So all you got to come up with is his new pick or picks are bad. Ot, isnt it just awful that these kids have not lived in St. Louis for a certain period of time. Let me give you a new angle to work. USA hockey has mandated that the maximum number of games a Tier I team can play in a year is 75. Why dont you come up with the team not going to be so good not playing so many games angle. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 AAA | July 19 2009, 4:30 PM |
