Who cares! AAA is better and if your kid isn't there you suck as a parent . . . no, as a spouse . . . no. no, as an American . . . no, worse, as a human being who doesn't deserve to be on the earth . . . in fact, you're the cause of Global Warming and the death of baby polar bears! Oh, ya, and good luck to all the skaters no matter who you play for this year. I mean that sincerely . . . especially for you AAA guys where it really matters. |

Big question is, how does the coaching compare Affton vs. Chesterfield. I've heard good things about Affton's coaching, but not familiar with the Chesterfield coaches. Any input?? |

CHA MM 51% to 50% Affton MM, Affton MM- Tough to compete against a National Championship, but Affton did a fine job digging out of the hole they were in last year and winning the Central Districts and making it to Nationals. Lindsey addding Chase Ernst will be a cancer, it he hasn't bailed yet like he is know to do.
CHA MN 40% to 60% Affton MN-Young Affton coaching staff did a good job last year taking the team to National Championship game. Affton coach close with Behan which helps these kids prepare for juniors.
Overall, Affton will be the better place to go. Winning tradition and moving players on, that is what is important. |

What about their goalies, you need a couple of strong netminders to win the tough games. Who has the edge here? |
|

Best goalie might be at Twin Bridges MM CSDHL. Heard they have already signed ex AAA'er... |

B Right was at at Affton Major and Minor preskates as was Gorsuch. Sandler was not there, but should be at the tryouts for Affton is what I heard. |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: CSDHL MIDGETS | June 19 2009, 5:06 PM |
If the numbers of skaters are any indication, it looks like Affton has the edge...I think there were 65-70 kids at the minor preskates & 11 goalies...not near that many at the CF tryouts. I guess tryouts officially begin for both this weekend.

These are all just pre-skates like every year for the $$$. Yeah some kids will be identified, but the final tryouts are in August. |

most will be asked back if there is a tryout fee to be paid beyond the preskate fee |

Lyndsey last it last year. Let one of his best players walk to Affton and half the time couldn't remember who he had on the team. Titus got fed up and said see you later. |

how come affton is picking there cs teams with the current try-outs, twin bridges will pick at their upcoming try-out, but chesterfield has what is called try-outs now and if selected you come back for more "try-outs" in aug. are they that hard up for money that they have to scam twice for a "try-out"? |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: CSDHL MIDGETS | June 29 2009, 7:48 PM |
looks like from the Affton list posted today, not too many were really cut from the pre-skates
what good does it do to invite 50-60 kids to come back, looks like they only cut about 15-20 kids & there are some kids on the list that weren't even there & aren't even interested in central states because of the cost & time involved
|
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: CSDHL MIDGETS | June 29 2009, 8:16 PM |
Affton is going to have a team of 94s and a few 93s that will play a moam shedule of a couple tournents and practice games with some out of town teams. They are offering an alternative to the kids who get cut from cs. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: CSDHL MIDGETS | June 29 2009, 9:06 PM |
Yeah, that would be the regular MOAM Midget AA team, I think they have that every season |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: CSDHL MIDGETS | June 30 2009, 11:34 AM |
that team sounds like something many players would be interested in....is it a for sure thing, or are they still working on the details? Affton had two AA teams at midget minor last year, was one of them this kind of team or will this be the first time they are trying this?
given the economy right now, from the organizations standpoint, it would be a good idea to keep as many of those kids at your club, so making a spot for them is a great idea
|
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: CSDHL MIDGETS | June 30 2009, 11:44 AM |
Affton has always tried to find a spot to keep kids playing if they have enough interest. A few years back, they even had a Midget A1 team that played in the now defunct Thompson C league. It's not about the money, Affton is "Not for Profit" it is about keeping kids playing. I get tired of hearing all the CS bashing and how they only care about CS, blah, blah, blah, Affton cares about EVERY kid who wants to play. |

Is this delayed because of Junior A tryouts or is that a coincidence? |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | July 13 2009, 5:33 PM |
Thats a riot, according to the CSDHL web site, the last time TB had a CS team they beat Affton quite a bit. Just remember there is another option for kids out there now. I would be a little nervous if I were Affton. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | July 16 2009, 1:37 PM |
I think it would be good for TB to have a Central States program. There are a lot of kids that live in Illinois and having another option is a good thing for ALL of St. Louis. A lot of time and money spent commuting, and having an option closer would be a nice thing. I don't think it would necessarily hurt any program, but maybe help CSDHL. |

Does Affton charge a tryout fee again in August for the CS Midgets? I just saw the email from Chesterfield & they charge again to finish the tryouts |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 2 2009, 8:57 PM |
They said the June fee covers the August fee
|
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 3 2009, 9:19 AM |
That Chesterfield email is ridiculous. Everyone already paid $75 for the first three skates and now they are charging $99 for the next three skates. We just made our minds up where we are playing this season. |

Affton Developmental team?
Dude it is tier II midget hockey. Take a chill pill. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 3 2009, 12:37 PM |
The reason C-field does that is to not charge the kids that get cut the first round even if they are minimal it's not fair to them. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 4 2009, 8:35 PM |
Chesterfield charging again for Midget CS tryouts, when we have already paid a month & a half ago is ridiculous, what a money grab
Affton doesn't charge the kids a second time
I don't really care if the fee covers AA, A....if you don't make CS, if he doesn't make CS, he won't be playing there for sure |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 5 2009, 7:31 AM |
cha says tryouts are open for cs, but in their earlier tryout some were "invited" back and some weren't. what's the deal? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 5 2009, 7:51 AM |
Good question, I wonder if the kids who previously cut & not invited back can register again & try out
For some reason, I think that everyone was invited back....could be wrong about that though
I also noticed that Affton's CS tryouts have some conflicts with Chesterfield's - so kids will have to make a choice of which to attend |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 5 2009, 10:07 AM |
If you were cut back in June why would you tryout again? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 5 2009, 12:58 PM |
I know this is last year but c-field had their first try outs cut some kids and invited others to 2nd camp. Then some kids became available that didn't make JR B that didn't tryout for C-field originally so they invited them to tryout at the second tryout. |
|

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 14 2009, 8:07 AM |
I don't know about the 2nd group, but the 1st group did not look good. A lot of individual play, out of position, some cheap shots
That being said, there are a lot of good players out there and the competition is tough at least for the forwards, not as many defensemen, so odds are better for them
Does anyone have any input from the 2nd group? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 14 2009, 8:10 AM |
You can tell by the list of names the first group was the better of the two groups. That was going to be as good as it gets. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 14 2009, 2:28 PM |
half the kids that will end up on the team were not even at the tryouts. you cant tell how good a team is going to be from tryouts |

does anyone have any insight about cf or tb central states - how are their teams going to stack up against affton...do either of them have a chance to be competitive in the league?
anyone have info on the cf or tb coaches that would be helpful to kids that might be trying out for those teams?
|
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 14 2009, 3:06 PM |
Central States as a whole is weaker this year becuase of the introduction of the Midget Minor Selects team. There will be kids on the Affton team that would have had no chance to make the team in previous years. Affton is clearly going to have their pick of the litter, but there is not as much of a gap between the top players this year as would be the case in years past. There will be much more parity between all three clubs this year. Affton should win the battle of the local clubs but they will have to battle for those wins. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 14 2009, 3:23 PM |
What about the 3 CS coaches - anyone know anything about CF & TB - I think the Affton coach has been there for a while, but I believe CF & TB are new CS coaches
If a player had the option to play for CF or TB & the commute wasn't an issue, which is the better option? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 14 2009, 3:45 PM |
I am not familiar with the CF coach. The TB coach is a very good coach. He will get the kids a ton of ice and really develop them individually and as a team. His teams have consistently done well and in many cases overachieved. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 14 2009, 8:13 PM |
Flaugher's team would beat Zook's, I'd bet on it. He'll have far better gaoltending and he's a better coach. |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 15 2009, 3:17 PM |
There will be plenty of quality players cut from Affton. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 15 2009, 4:46 PM |
8;13 from yesterday. Does Zook equal Zuke?
Last poster, "quality" has a pretty subjective meaning. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 15 2009, 10:37 PM |
Select goalies are good but not in same league as the two 94 AAA kids |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 16 2009, 10:26 AM |
If the two 94AAA goalies are that good, then you must be asking yourself why would both of the AAA teams in this area take a pass on them. Do they just hate tennis legends in their own mind? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 16 2009, 10:33 AM |
Are the select rosters posted anywhere? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 16 2009, 9:36 PM |
the Selects picked their team team before AAA so only one AAA team passed on the 94 goalies, both would have made the Select minor team |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 17 2009, 9:47 AM |
Hey 9:36......if the 94 goalies were at the Selects camp and didn't get picked, then they tried out for Blues AAA and got cut, doesn't that make 2 cuts? The Selects camp is their tryouts. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 17 2009, 10:16 AM |
Good point last poster. Is it possible that the kids were at the camp and were asked to play selects and said no thinking they were going to make the AAA blues? I know some did say no to cavallini's when asked. Not saying that happened here but now that it has happened. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 17 2009, 10:37 AM |
If everybody who claims to have received an offer from the Selects and turned them down actually did receive an offer then Selects must have intended to field several minor teams. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 17 2009, 10:49 AM |
neither 94 goalies were at Selects minor tryouts and there were tryouts and both of these kids are better goalies than what Zuke took |

does he make personal phone calls to the players he has selected before posting the roster or do you just find out from the post?
just curious how he does things
|
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 18 2009, 3:40 PM |
He will call and make sure the players are accepting his offer so Affton does not end up with egg on their face. Delay in posting may also be related to desire to talk to players that have been cut about playing for the development team. By not posting it is harder for the Chesterfield and Twin Bridges folks to determine who might be available. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 18 2009, 5:16 PM |
Yes, it not only makes it tough on the CF & TB coaches, but also on the players - because they cannot make a decision until they know all of the options. & you hate to burn any bridges with coaches from other organizations because you never know when you might find yourself trying out for them again. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 18 2009, 6:15 PM |
They have to wait to make sure Jack's roster is finalized which then funnels down to Hazelton's. Once both of those teams have been set, then flauger will post his roster because he will then know the numbers. He's not trying to screw over TB or CHA coaches. His first practice is Thursday afternoon so he will probably have it out soon enough. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: TB Lightning | August 18 2009, 6:31 PM |
Of course and he has seen these same kids for weeks but according to the website will not post the roster until Wednesday evening. I am sure that has nothing to do with the Affton Development team trying to get a head start on recruiting the kids that get cut.
Affton may want to take a hard look at their procedure. If either Chesterfield or Twin Bridges close the gap on putting a quality package out for CSDHL, Affton will not be able to hold kids while they go through all their tryouts. |

A classless comment from someone who either had a son cut or did not watch a single evaluation. Let the teams (all of them) play a few games before you start trashing the kids. Then you can be a big man and name names and initials of teen age boys who are making mistakes. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: CSDHL MIDGETS | August 19 2009, 3:23 PM |
Exactly. What a stupid ass thing to say one day after the team is posted. At least 4, if not more, of those boys could be/should be on the 16AAA team and were among the last ones cut by Bily. Several more played AAA last season. Some of the others were on this same team last year. If you add that up, that is a bit more than the usual CS teams have and they should be very competitive. |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: CSDHL MIDGETS | August 20 2009, 2:31 PM |
Well if he does practice with Bil, please let camcorder guy so he can do some taping of that. Because practicing with a team other than your own once the season has started and before nationals are over is a very serious offense.
Does anyone know the rosters or where they are posted for?

Anonymous (no login) | Re: CSDHL MIDGETS | September 1 2009, 8:32 AM |
The little girl made it because she was clearly better than the other D trying out for the team. She is a very smart player, takes good angles and makes a decent outlet pass. Obviously she will have to get over a strength and speed hurdle but people have been saying that about her for the last several years and she does just fine. |

As long as hockey has been around kids have got on teams because of their coaching daddy. No big deal. The year before Basil left he was not even shy about admitting that was the case. It has happened since the beginning of hockey and will happen till the end of hockey.
They have also got to the regional camps because of their daddy. Their are kids on other central states teams because of dad. No big deal. |
|

Anonymous (no login) | Re: CSDHL MIDGETS | September 1 2009, 11:34 AM |
10:11...yes in my opinion it even goes up to that level.
I know for sure kids are playing in the UHL on their daddy alone. But that's ok, even if they get on the team that way they are cut later by the same team. Eventually, talent alone will make or break you eventually. Depending on the power your daddy wields, that is later than others for some people... |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: CSDHL MIDGETS | September 1 2009, 11:45 AM |
11:27 Are you high?
It would be nice is just once a team was picked on talent alone. Life is not fair. Affton and Chesterfield both have kids on some of the CSDHL rosters for the same reasons. Does not make a difference, the kid in every instance will be a last line player and rarely see gametime. Also, if your kid or any was REALLY good, they would have made the top line and would not have to worry about being bumped off the fourth line by coaches kid/relative. |
|

The CHA AA midget major team beat the CHA CS midget major team 2-0 last night. When are you guys going to learn that CS and AAA level hockey is overrated. The majority of the best hockey players in the St. Louis area play AA hockey. The reason for this is that the majority (not all) of the best players cannot afford CS and AAA hockey; consequently, they play AA. I give the MM CS team credit for playing the AA team; most teams will not play a lower division team because of the risk of a loss. |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: CSDHL MIDGETS | October 15 2009, 8:48 AM |
Don't know who was in goal for either team, but the CS team took the loss with class. The rumor is that the CS coach is looking to take one or more kids from this AA team to play for the CS team. I don't know how he is proposing to do this because I thought his 20 player roster was already full. It also strikes me as wrong; the AA team does not have a full roster -- the AA team should be allowed to take 2 or 3 of the best CS players and put these kids on the AA roster. If the AA team did this, they would be unstoppable at either level. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: CSDHL MIDGETS | October 15 2009, 8:50 AM |
8:12
That is interesting on the MOAM team beating the the CS team. However, your statement that most of the best players are playing AA hockey at MOAM versus central states and AAA is one of the funniest things I have seen in years. It is very rare for Central States teams to beat age appropriate MOAM teams. Very, very rare.
As a matter of fact, your example is only the second time I can think of it happening. Both times the circustanaces were very unique. Let's visit both instances shall we?
#1-PW AA Rockets in 2005-2006. A team made up an extraordinarily strong group of 92's for the rockets. Several of those kids playing central states, a few playing Jr A now (albiet at different tiers), and they even had some from other associations. The talent on this team was very A-typical for MOAM talent
#2- Chesterfield MM in 2009-2010. The 92 group in general is probably the most talented birth year St. Louis has ever produced. Some would argue the 90's since they did win a national championship. I think the 90's had more high end talent but the 92 is such a deep class. That incredibly deep class is really helping this team compete. Again, this is very atypical.
Besides these two teams, name me a MOAM team that has ever competed with a decent CS or AAA team? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: CSDHL MIDGETS | October 15 2009, 9:30 AM |
8:50, your assertions are ridiculous. The reason last night's event is, in your words, "very rare" is because the CS teams and certainly AAA teams do not play AA teams very often. But more importantly than that obvious fact, there are way more AA teams than CS teams and "way way more" AA teams than AAA teams; consequently, the AA talent is somewhat spread out among 5 or 6 teams. If we took the best talent from all of the AA teams in the area and made one team out of this talent, the AA team would smoke the CS teams in the area; they would smoke Cavallin's Select team and they would certainly give the U/18 AAA blues a run for their money. This CS team from last night beat the U/16 blues team 3-1 a couple of weeks ago. It is my understanding that the AA had had one practice prior to beating the U/16 team and only 2 practices before beating the CS team last night.
But even with these disadvantages in place at the AA level, I do recall last year's CHA AA midget minor team beating the midget minor CHA CS team at a tournament at the Wentzville rink (Lindenwood). I also recall that a few years ago, the CHA Bantam A1 team beating a AAA blues team once and tying them twice.
If I were you, I would get off of those CS and AAA horses you are riding and begin to realize that those horses are overrated and over priced. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: CSDHL MIDGETS | October 15 2009, 9:32 AM |
He can't because it never happens with the exception of rare seasons. Each AA MOAM team will lose this season, if they play, to the CS team their age by at least 5 goals. That is what happens. The AA teams usually end up playing the Minor Year CS team beating them badly the first game, much closer to a tie the second game and by the end of the year, the Minor Year CS team beats the AA team. It has happened like that for years and always will.
Why do you think they changed the Regional playoffs this year? People like you were complaining that their AA kids never got a chance because the CS teams always moved on from Missouri. Now they will get a chance to go and lose 10-0. |

Is that what happened a couple of years ago when the Bantam AA team played Moorhouse's Bantam Major CS team in a playoff game? The AA team tied the CS team in regulation and almost beat them in overtime with a rifle shot off the crossbar. CS won in a shootout.
And, by the way, why don't you read the preceding post before you post your prattle. |

9:30 and 9:53
I thought I was clear but let me spell it out for you AGAIN. The 92 birth year is very, very deep. There have been times when that age group has been competitive at moam and central states. But that 92 birth year is very unique. Any example you mention involves the 92 birth year and your are right, that class is very deep and there is a lot of competition.
Now pick another birth year, any other birth year. Pick a level of competitiveness for ANY OTHER YEAR than 1992. Go ahead and do it.
You assertion that plucking kids off of AA teams to play a cs team is just a random assertion that in your words is just plain ridiculous.

95 has been a good tier II class. Not sure if that is all you are trying to say. If you are trying to say they are good at moam and cs was it last year or the year before that Affton CS beat Twin bridges like 14-0 two games in a row to go to regionals? |

10:30, don't get your panties in a knot; you seem to be easily excitable. I agree that the 92s, as a group, are probably better than many of the other birth years, but I don't agree with you that these other birth years have a great group of AAA and CS kids and after that the talent level is way down. Even with these other birth years, if you were to take the best AA kids from all of the other teams in the area and form one team from this group, you would have a AA team that would be better than the CS teams in the area and you would have a team that could compete very well against the same birth year AAA blues team. |

I am not easily excitable, just do not understand why you could not get the point the first time.
I just asked you to prove your point historically with any other birth year than the 92's. My kid played MOAM AA for several years and I can tell you at his birth year you are dead wrong. I saw and became very familair with the talent at central states and the AAA blues and moam AA. There is absolutely no way the moam aa "all stars" could compete with the tier I team. Absolutely no way. There are a few-and I mean a very few who could have made it to third of fourth line on tier I MAYBE if they were lucky. But no way could they compete as you say.

Laugh all you want, but the truth is that a 92 bantam A1 team (not an all-star team did just that. Furthermore, had a AA team been formed from the best AA kids in the area, the AA team would have beat the AAA team by 10 goals instead of the 3-0 score it did beat them by. I understand how the rich dads want to get on here and delude themselves into thinking that their littly Johnny-Sh*t-in-the-Pants is a potential star, but the truth of the matter is that he cannot compete against the best AA players in the area. |

What the hell are you talking about? Give me the specifics of the teams, score and when this game happened. |

Yeah, now we are going to play the dumb act. Gornet's A1 team beat Moorehouses AAA team 2 years in a row. I will give the aaa blues credit though, because the cha AA team and cha CS team would not play the A1 team that year. This occurred several years ago. |

If what you say is true what f'ing moron coached or picked the AAA team? Was this AAA team from St. Louis? |

This argument has no premise form which to argue from.........the 1985 class is by far the strongest class to come out of St. Louis. 11 D1 players- 3 that will play in the NHL this year or next. The 92's will NEVER be close to these numbers. True there are a lot of GOOD players, but not many SPECIAL players.... |

when you are talking bantam your the idiot when you play MM at a high level then come on here and talk sh+t,people always think their kids are great until they actually play great players or teams or if they never play they can dream of what could have been. |

An A1 team beat the team Moorhouse picked, now I understand why so many people have a problem with him....wow.... |
