So I guess all of roller hockey kids made the team? Not very fair that they only came to 1 or 2 tryouts. |
|
anonymous (no login) | Re: CSDHL Bantam major tryouts | June 29 2009, 9:25 PM |
Heard that one from last year was asked to come to last tryout and wanted no part of it.
Shame on CHA to be begging kids when other kids have given time and effort to tryout. Why even show up if your a kid? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | CSDHL Bantam major tryouts | June 29 2009, 9:44 PM |
There are at least 3 players that were guaranteed spots that opted to play a ROLLER HOCKEY TOURNAMENT instead of coming to the last 2 tryouts. I just don't think it is fair to the kids that came to all 4 tryouts with no chance of making the team due to guaranteed spots. |

Tell those kids to get better and maybe they will not have to come next year. |

Shit, with all the things that Brandes did to try and get kids out there is it really a surprise that he told kids not to worry about try-outs. Bet some of the kids fees are paid for as well. Where is the list of players who made the team? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: CSDHL Bantam major tryouts | June 30 2009, 10:02 AM |
Don't forget the kid who got his spot when daddy was asked to be the asst. coach, that is another kid that may have been at try-outs, but didn't need to be. |

Usually you only need to go to 2 or 3 tryouts, not everyone can make all 4. Great to thoses who can.
I have seen this at every level. |

2:51 - If you can assume that the original post could be from a member of any club, than I have the equal right to assume that the original post was from someone from Affton. And by the way, in this sort of incident, history supports my assumption. However, let's say that you KNOW that the author was not someone from Affton, because the post was from YOU, a non-Affton person. In that case, then my original statement was true--that either you ARE from Affton, or you are assuming that EVERYONE else at ALL the other clubs do not care about the Chesterfield CSDHL Bantam Majors. Also, have a nice day. It was nice talking to you. |

I certainly hope the 3 or 4 roller hockey kids make a big difference or CHA is in for another long season. You would think they would eventually get it right. Congrats. Yeah sour grapes, blah, blah, blah. Doesn't change the score of the scrimmage that was set up to have the kids who were on the team against the rest. They scored the fewest goals and gave up the most last season and they don't appear to have changed much. |

The Bantam Minors from last year (this years majors) only lost two kids to AAA. They were replaced with better quality players from what I see. |

The team lost 2 players to AAA but also lost more than half the penalty minutes. It's got to be a much improved team. Defense is bigger and stronger with offense adding some key TEAM players. |

There are some very good players that did not make the Affton CS team. If CHA was smart they would contact them. As with any club there are always questionable picks. If CHA plays the cards right they will be better than Affton this season. |

So which kids will get their walking papers from Chesterfield to bring the cut Affton kids on board? I really don't think the Chesterfield coach is quite that crazy to pull such a move. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Affton Bantam Major | July 1 2009, 7:04 PM |
The cut Affton players should have tried out for BOTH Bantam teams. A handful of players did that. It is a shame that some better-abilitied players will be left off of both rosters because of the try-out schedule. |

The one that I think is funny is the hardship transfer case from last season. He had the Affton boys pull off a hardship transfer because it was to far to drive from Illinois to Chesterfield and now he is playing Chesterfield Central States. Way to go EMMIT! You have to admire how he pulled the wool ove Mo Hockey's eyes on that one. |
|
anonymous (no login) | Re: Affton Bantam Major | July 2 2009, 6:06 AM |
What is a big deal is when kids who try out from the start and give their best efforts are cut instead for kids who did not want to play but were called by CHA to show up at tryouts later in the process.
Add that to the kids were placed on team and it seems like tryouts really aren't TRUE tryouts.

Why are evaluators at CHA CS Bantam Major talking to parents on the side about a kids chances of making the team.
Hmmm..Won't name names, but I know that people know who they are. It is sad, but true.
Don't be an idiot if you are an evaluator. What goes on in the room, stays in the room. Or do politics and who you know still play an important role at CHA? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Affton Bantam Major | July 2 2009, 8:17 AM |
That is why Chesterfield will always be second rate. Several of their AAA picks were good ole boy choices and now you see it at CS. No wonder Affton has so many of the best players showing up at their door step just wanting to play top level hockey without the BS. |

I don't know why any of you Chesty parents are surprised with the activities leading up to the final team. I surely wouldn't be surprised if you end up with another player or two added to your roster. There has been all sorts of behind the the scenes shit going on since the end of AAA try-outs. This team should dominate with more then half the team being former AAA players and especailly if Brandes can coach as good and as much as he worked at getting players to play for him.
Most of the team was promised a spot just for showing interest in playing. I wonder how many parents were promised coaching positions? |

It doesn’t matter who got the AAA players. The 95 AAA's have been awful the last few years. Why would you want to boast that you got these players when apparently they weren’t very good as a team the last few seasons? It proves that the 95 AAA's are a joke of team when there so called super stars don't make AAA the next season, come down to a CS team and are not the best players on the team by far!!! Chesterfield has a number of quality players that are better than the x AAA's and some should have made the AAA team if it wasn't for the politics. Chesterfield will be much improved this season and hopefully with the coaching change get some wins. Chesterfield is moving in the right direction and should play Affton very well this season.

Said well. X AAA players do not equal superstars by any means. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Affton Bantam Major | July 3 2009, 8:54 AM |
Guess everyone has their definition of superstars. I think each birth year has 4 or 5 superstars. About 20-25 kids at the next level, a whole bunch of kids at another level. Unless your kid is one of the top 4 or 5 at his birthyear do not sweat much. It is just about fun. That is not to say that kids will continue to get much better at the older ages.
Case in point, ask Zuke about Chris Butler as a Peewee. Chris was the fourth or fifth best AAA defenseman. Really started improving and was the top three in bantam. Then the best as a midget. Went on to play at Denver and now playing for the Buffalo Sabres. If your kid is playing tier II at bantams unless he choose not to try out for tier I, chances are one in a million that he will do anything substantial with hockey. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Affton Bantam Major | July 3 2009, 10:55 AM |
Don't agree. When your kid does try out fot tier i and doesn't make it, but should have, it is only the coaches opinion. The 95s have some very good kids on cs teams. The best team for aaa is not on the ice this year. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Affton Bantam Major | July 3 2009, 11:54 AM |

Oh, my gosh, not this tired subject again. If your kid is good enough, he will rise to the top. Let's give up on the 95AAA being not the best kids, please. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Affton Bantam Major | July 3 2009, 6:49 PM |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Affton Bantam Major | July 4 2009, 8:16 AM |
You apparently care or you won't be monitoring this CS thread and defending the AAA choices. I agree no one cares anymore, but your constant badgering of the opinion of others only leads me to believe that your daughter must have been one of the good ole boy bender choices at AAA. Was you daughter the tall one with the blue note on the helmet whos knees bent inwards at ever stop, turn and transition and also used her stick as a cane half the time. Anyone present at tryouts would have at least noticed this sad skilled individual, only one of the many buddy choices. Certainly stood out but for the wrong reasons. I can only say I'm glad my son is not playing with your daughter. Maybe she was a boy, but certaing played hockey like a first time girl skater. Enjoy your year looking over your shoulder knowing this is bender boys last year at AAA. The trash is discarded at midget, where skills will count over the buddy system. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Affton Bantam Major | July 4 2009, 8:45 AM |
Well if a kid is too good to make tier I at bantams they will probably be too good to make it at midgets too. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Affton Bantam Major | July 4 2009, 9:23 AM |
How did the Central District tryouts turn out for the ones that were overlooked for AAA and the kids that did make 95 AAA team? Right kids/best kids get picked there, or was that a scam, too? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Affton Bantam Major | July 4 2009, 10:32 AM |
Maybe one day all the best 95s will get to play on the same team. Midgets possibly, or not, but whatever team your child plays for, they should make the most of it and not dwell on if he/she made a certain team. If a child has the drive to improve and are good enough, they will make a team, as long as the parents are not extremely whacko, which is also sometimes the case. So instead of whining and making idiots out of yourselves, remember, maybe you're the one who swayed the final decision on whether or not they make the team. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Affton Bantam Major | July 4 2009, 10:41 AM |
No one swayed anything with the 95 AAA's except for the buds of MG. The best kids were not chosen....period!!! Minus the big kid ( CC ) on the AAA's they are a very beatable team either by Chesterfield or Affton. I don't think MG will play our CHA team or Affton but I would really like to see it. |

You may be classified as Tier 1 but you don't have all Tier 1 level players. You have about 6 players, if that, that are truly AAA. After those players your team really falls apart and thats where Chesterfield and Affton can and will beat you.

None of those three 95 teams could beat a real teir one team like 96 AAA team |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Bantam Major | July 4 2009, 2:15 PM |
Nine of the CHA CS could replace AAA kids and the team would be better? Seriously? And don't forget about the Affton roster. It is a shame that all the best kids can't be on the same team, if that's truly the case. And what about other birth years, do the best players not play together on those teams either? I know once you hit midgets it's a whole different ballgame with the double birthyear and then the addition of the Selects in the mix. Why all the complaining, when you think about it, kids at all birthyears are spread out, not just this one. It seems politics are always involved in any sport to some extent. Everyone deals with it. As said before, some coach, somewhere along the line, if your kid is good enough, will recognize that and really want him on their team. If not, perhaps your judgment could be a little off. Just a mere suggestion, don't fly off the handle at the thought. There are a lot of talented kids that don't play AAA. There are also other opportunities out there for your kid to stand out, make themselves noticed, by unbiased evaluators/coaches. Hopefully, this will happen and you can have the right to say, I told you so. Success is the best revenge, after all. |

You talk of the kid that is too good for AAA over and over. Is this the only material you have or do you just have an ax to grind with a individual dad and can't let it go. He doesn't have to be all that good to be better than half the AAA team so what's your point? |

I am still waiting for somebody to name the 9 kids on AAA that could be replaced by the kids on Chesterfield and Affton CS. The question was ask and nobody seems to have an answer or they do not know. |

Replace any of the bottom 9 with any of the CHA or AA kids and you have a better team. |

Not supposed to name kids. there are plenty of names to post. Can't do it...not ethical. |

The CHA folks are really full of them selves. The majority of their CS teams have not done squat and they are getting worse. All the OTT's, coaches from other clubs and the fact that people think the road to AAA runs thru CHA and they still can not compete with Affton at all levels. Plus the cost is rising as well to pay for less than a mediocre club. |
