Try outs for most clubs are about 2-3 week away and a lot has changed since last season. Can Fairview Hghts and Meramec compete at the AA level? Will the Rockets/Kirkwood merger have any effect on competition. Will Affton dominance continue? Will this be St. Peter's breakout year? Will the MILF Hunter Return??

Pretty broad topic across many age levels and skill levels but, this board has been pretty boring lately.

Here's a prediction, all the kids will have fun if the parents butt out!!

I think people could say what they want about affton but it would bode st peters and fairview well if they did what affton does. I used to work in fairview and it is staggering to head to that rink on a weekend in winter and see one of the sheets or both not used. With all the young couples in St Peters and two new beautiful sheets, what an opportunity to get kids hooked. How does affton do it?

Affton does it by hooking the kids at learn to play. They also have decent coaching makng sure the kids are having lots of fun. Make it cheap as can be.

I dont see the kirkwood rockets AA merger making much of a difference.

Here are my predictions
- Parents will NOT butt out
- Parents will continue to complain about who was and was not picked
- Players will be picked based on politics
- Players will NOT be picked based on politics
- 95% of all players will be picked based on skill
- Refs will make bad calls and mis calls
- Some will blame losses on refs
- Some will claim that all moms from Meremac & St. Peters wear blue eye shadow and cowbells
- Some will claim that all moms from the valley are plastic
- Everyone not from St. Peters will say they suck
- Everyone not from Affton will say they steal players
- Everyone not from Affton will be jealous of their success
- Some will claim that cross-ice sucks
- Some will claim cross-ice is great
- Most will complain about mohockey and/or their organization but will not volunteer to help
- AAA will say CS sucks
- CS will say AAA sucks
- Some will claim CS is all that is wrong with youth hockey
- Someone will unevitably bring up the old boards and hate on Jack
- All posters will remain annonymous

I like the second to last one. It's kind of funny how someone could so accurately observe all of these things, I could be wrong but in a seemingly critical or satirical manner, and then appear to defend Jack by predicting the inevitable Jack-haters will come out. I really don't give a rat's ass about Jack. He's done a lot of great things for local hockey and a lot of horrible things. But one thing for sure, whether you enjoy N54 or think it is the scourge of local youth hockey Jack is responsible for introducing and cultivating the use of the N54 ANONYMOUS youth hockey chat boards in the St. Louis hockey community. In fact he was the king of anonymously trashing others while controlling the conversation as the anonymous WEBMASTER I, II, and III jokers.

Minor year central states- What a freaking scam. Just a complete money grab. If you are ever going to amount to anything other than the beer league at brentwood you will make the major year team as a minor year player. Happens with Really good players. If you are not playing up at Tier II just realize it is a damn money grab that does not have a damn thing to do with development.

By the way, there have been many occassions where moam AA is better than a minor year central states team. What a joke.

Yes it does happen very routinely if and this is the very important part ----IF the kid is a really good player.

IF your kid was not asked to play up, especially at Tier II then he is just not THAT good.

You got that right. Wish so many more parents would just stay out of the way and keep it fun for their kids. Why do so many parents think hockey needs to amount to something?

There are plenty of parents who say its all in fun for the kids but, they are still taking little johnny to the minor year tryouts and forking over a bigger pile of cash than just playing moam AA. Those are the parents that irritate me the most!

Whats up with St. Peters listing AA tryouts with Minor and Major year teams? Is that a requirement of their Chicago league?

No, that makes it harder at each birth year to not make a AA team and keeps them from pool playing elsewhere.

The point is to keep teams together. Problem is some age levels do not have enough players to make a decent team at the AA level. Could be an ugly year for some.

We will just have to see in Feb. but, I think that they will be better than people think.

We are working on that. Looks like next year we are holding off on evaluations so we can pick up pool players. If that doesn'r pan out then in 2011 we will move evaluation up to April to rob CS. Stay tuned for further details.

Wait a second, STP is not a HOCKEY CLUB. Never will be. Hardly any Bantams, no Midgets. All their good players left by now. I feel bad for the few remaining good players because now kids that were on A2, house Gold & Silver teams are now making their AA teams. A bit of advice for those parents that are thinking of signing their child up to play Ice Hockey. Don't sign with STP. Sign with another club, that way if you need to OTT (one time transfer) you can go from a good club to another good club. No one OTTs to STP. That my Hockey fans, is a FACT. "Hockey at St. Peters is like life itself, it's enevitable. Thats why we have cemetaries, and the Rec-Plex".
