The Elephant Stoned FTP Server.

FTP settings are :

username is esftpweb
password is esftpweb
Rules
You cannot upload, you can only view/download.
You cannot append, delete or execute any files.
Personal accounts for this FTP are currently NOT being accepted.
All IP addresses will be logged and monitored. Abuse will amount to IP addresses being banned.
Just be sensible. Treat my server with care, and consider others.
Rules and guidelines.
PLEASE READ.
One log in per IP address.
This means you can make ONE connection..ONE download per session, no more. The server will ban persistent users that try to download more than one file at a time.
Server is set to ban IP addresses that 'hammer'.
This means if you log on, and there is ' Too Many Users' then you must leave, and try again later. If your FTP client is set to 'retry' in a period less than 30 seconds, then you willbe banned for 5 minutes. ( think about it..You log in, don't get in, retry and get banned..then your FTP client is still retrying after 5 mins..You get banned again.
Set your FTP client to retry every 120 seconds at least.
Session time out is 2 hours.
This means you can only log on for 2 hours at a time. The server has many people trying to get in..A University server logging in at full speed ( When activated ) for days ruins it for everyone.
DISABLE your KeepAlive for my server. Keeping your connection alive when not downloading is unfair on users waiting for access.
Speed and amount of users is restricted.
This server runs on my main desktop machine, which is the one I use to browse, upload/download etc. If I'm not doing anything particularly connection reliant, I may increase the amount of users allowed on the server and/or increae the download speed for users. GMT after 1 or 2 AM is also likely to be a time when I may do this ( Unless uploading ).
I'm have a 128k upspeed..( Works out at 32k ) at the moment, which I'm paying £35 a month for. At peak times, this can mean as many as 8 users can be in with a 4k download speed. Now, for free, you can complain at that.
Don't complain.
It's free..Don't email me when you can't get in, or haven't followed the rules. Unless you are a persistent offender over a number of sessions, you will NEVER be permanently banned. If you are banned, then re-configure your FTP settings, and wait to try again.
Emails received regarding FTP problems ( i.e. user help, user banned and speed problems ) will NOT be answered. Please use the links provided below. All the info you need is within these sites..Failing that, A Google search will help you.
Consider giving something back?
For a year now, I have run this server, and to date, there is only a handful of peope who have contacted me with the offer of uploading something they think the server would benefit from. These particular people have been consistent, and have personal accounts on my server for their contributions.
If you have a good connection ( or a poor one with patience ), and you have a bootleg/video I, or others might be interested in, why not contact me for an upload account? A little give for the take is always welcomed.
Enjoy my FTP, and treat it with the respect it deserves ( While you can..My cable provider will doubtless want to charge for my monthly bandwidth sooner or later, which will mean bye-bye FTP )
