What type of hi-hat did Reni use on the lp's?

Does anyone happen to know what type of hi-hat cymbals Reni used to record with? I saw from the site that there is a line stating "Sabien (sic) hi-hat cymbals (2)" listed as equipment for the Roses 1989 tour. Does anyone know what type of Sabians (or other type) that he used to record? I know he used much 2-handed hi-hat technique from pics of him playing, which certainly adds to his prodigious sound, but there's something more there, definitely - that smooth, slidiing, slightly open-to-close Mancunian shuffle hi-hat that can only be gotten with the proper hi-hats. If anything, does anyone know if a sound like his is achieved with lighter or heavier hi-hats, dark or light, wet or dry, size? I just gotta get that sound, and I ain't getting it with my new Sabian AAX 14" Stage hi-hats. I'm sorry if anyone's posted this question before, but I can't seem to track it down, and I MUST know...

Thank you!
