If anyone can help or let me know who else to send this too I would appreciate it greatly.
I have fully supported our President and our Military through-out the recent attacks on our motive's.
My Step son recently enlisted into the USMC Reserves and was set to leave for boot camp on tuesday, 1/20/04....He has passed all initial requirements to enlist, and was due to be sworn in and set on a plane to San Diego, During the final enlistment process..a temporary military medical doctor deceided to override the usual doctor and refer my stepson to a dermatologist for his acne problem.
Bottom line, the dermatologist suggested "Did not prescribe" for him to use a acne drug called Acutane. This suggestion has, not perscription, has caused my stepson to be disqualified from enlistment.
This in it of itself is the my main issue, he had passed the physical, gave up his college scholarship and university apartment based on the determination by the USMCR that he would be enlisting into the USMCR and would have the opportunity to complete his training.
My problem is: Why did the military wait to his day of departure to change his status, nothing had changed with his acne?
Now that he has given up his scholarship for the rest of the school year, will they help him financially...we know the answer to that!
In this current time, when our country is so dependant on our military, and our President in running for re-election based on the success of our military, How can they justify this kind of injustice to my stepson.
I am a Marine who has served my country, I never would have thought that I would ever consider that a disgrace.
Sincerely,
Robert G. Hitzman
