The word for today, February 27, is:

JUGGERNAUT (JUHG uhr nawt) or (JUHG uhr nahl)
n.: a massive unstoppable object that crushes anything in its
path

Examples:
Although signing such a little slip of paper seemed an
inauspicious act, it unleashed the juggernaut of war that would
continue long after the signer had been assassinated.

His failure to successfully make Road-Runner soup placed the
coyote in the path of the formidable juggernaut of an Acme
steamroller, paving Route 66.
