"One question which came up tonight is worth answering: Why am I
here?
You know what, the reason that I'm honestly here is because with
the
majority of people in the Republican Party, I'm the sentimental
favorite.
I'm the one you all listen to, you know I'm saying what's in
your heart,
you know that I speak the truth, the true bedrock Conservatism,
do it
better than anybody who has appeared in these debates. And it's
one of
the reasons that my colleagues did not feel that they had the
strength to
stand up and say "kick him out," because they know that that
would rouse
your ire. But if it will rouse your ire, how come it doesn't
inspire you
to get out there in the voting booth and stand with the same
integrity for
what you believe, that I stand with here in this arena? Unless
you the
voters of the Republican Party start to be willing to show that
kind of
integrity, our cause will be lost. These gentlemen won't win in
the fall,
because they don't have the courage of our convictions. And
they will not
effectively communicate that to the heart of the American
people. And
that's what we desperately need."

1. Message from Ambassador Keyes to the grassroots
A Message from Alan Keyes:
I want to make it very clear that I intend to continue to pursue
the
Republican nomination for President of the United States. It
is critical
that the effort we have been involved with continue and it is
vitally
important that it be successful.
This election is about deciding whether or not this republic,
this system
of self-government, is going to survive. One of the dangers to
our
liberty is that elections are being replaced by a system in
which money
and media will dominate rather than the votes of the people. If
we stand
back and permit such a system ultimately to determine electoral
outcomes,
then the republic is already dead, and we are already
disenfranchised. As
the influence of money and media expands, people at the grass
roots will
become so disillusioned and cynical that they will no longer
care, and
they will withdraw from the fray of politics. And as the people
abandon
their citizenship vocation, the pernicious influence of the
elites will
become control, and our system of self-government will be
finally
extinguished in favor of a form of oligarchy.
I want to make it clear that I will not abandon the grass roots
people of
the Republican Party. I will not abandon their views, I will
not abandon
their heart, and I will not abandon the field and leave them
with no
choice whatsoever.
If we've learned anything in the last several years, we have
learned that
our present crisis is devastating the integrity of our national
institutions. We will not restore the integrity of these
institutions by
running away from the issues that are poisoning our conscience.
We cannot be vague about this nation's commitment to its moral
principles.
I believe that the Republican Party's heritage is the heritage
of moral
principle, and we must fight to restore allegiance to that
heritage, not
just in its grass roots heart, but in its leadership. We are
fighting
for the Republican Party right now, for its very soul. We are
fighting for
the priority that must be given to these moral concerns. And I
will not
abandon that fight.
And I would invite all people of heart, and commitment, and
courage who
recognize our moral crisis and share my vision of meeting this
national
priority, to do the right thing. Vote your conscience this
time, because
the time has come to keep our promises to our nation and to each
other.
What we must try to do within the Republican Party is to bring
the healing
influence of the conscientious grass roots to a cadre of
leadership that
has lost its way in the confusion of ambition and power.
This is something that from time to time the people of this
country are
called to do if we are to preserve our heritage of
self-government. It is
hard work. But I believe that if we are willing to do so, then
that
faithfulness will indeed be rewarded by our God, with a victory
that will
help to restore the moral spirit of reverence for truth and our
hope for
justice and liberty.

3. Super Tuesday Assignments
Here in Virginia, as well as in other states, we have had great
success
distributing the "Voter Score Cards," available for printing on
our
website, at the voting polls.
Please print out - or reformat a design of your own, make
copies at
Kinkos and spend a few hours at your local polling station
offering voters
a chance to see how the candidates measure up on key issues.
What we observed was that most people rejected the candidate
brochures
handed out by the other campaigns, but were open to the offer of
"Would
you like some information on where ALL of the candidates stand
on the
issues?"

4. Local Involvement - Building for the future
The following is from a wonderful supporter who has only become
aware of
Ambassador Keyes and the message he is championing in the last
few months.
She, along with other Coordinators in the state of Virginia have
become
very excited about the great potential this effort, particularly
the
active involvement of each one of us, has in facilitating real
and lasting
substantive restoration of our party of principle. That was the
birth of
the Republican Party, an allegiance to principles, which though
on the
surface may at first seem divisive, are in fact the only binding
universal
and self evident truths which have heretofore made the diverse
people we
are "one nation under God."
Whatever this cycle may hold, what is being built by our efforts
on behalf
of the message Ambassador Keyes is carrying before the nation,
as has been
said before, goes way beyond a shortsighted and isolated
"victory." What
we are building is a political movement, one which requires
every able
bodied citizen to take part locally, consistently and
perseveringly so
that our elective process may be reclaimed by the citizens who
are suppose
to be ultimately deciding its fate.

Hi my name is Nancy Pratt and I am a newish Keyester. Why?
Because
listening to Dr. Keyes made me a believer in the system. I had
resigned
from the Republican Party because I was disgusted with the
ineptitude I
saw during the impeachment trials. Watching and listening to Dr.
Keyes was
almost a paradigm change. He made me realize what is needed to
bring this
country back to what made it great and strong. So, two months
ago I
signed on and became an area coordinator here in Virginia.
I got involved in working for Dr. Keyes and was asked to speak
to the
Republican committee before the primary here in Prince William
County.
I was a bit nervous because I wasn't sure how to speak to them.
I decided
that the truth was the only way and I told them why I had left
the party
and why I came back. I spoke to the fact that I had perceived
the
conservative flank to be ignorant, narrow minded and racist.
Watching Dr. Keyes get more votes than Forbes -with all his
money- and
Bauer together made me realize that something amazing was going
on here.
When I was finished speaking, to my amazement the whole room
jumped to its
feet and gave me a standing ovation. What I realized from that
was that
many people in the party felt the same way I did but because
there wasn't
a strong organized coalition of Keyesters working with them,
they saw him
as an outsider and a maverick. They really are looking for
direction and
for the most part they are impressed with Dr. Keyes. We have a
lot to do
and those of you whose primaries haven't yet taken place should
get
involved with your local committees. Even though we have had our
primary,
it is Dr. Keyes' message which must get out and we must get
involved in
the grassroots so that more people can become aware of it. We
cannot
expect Dr. Keyes to do it all, we must get involved with our
local
organizations, integrate into the party and become part of it.
There are
many party workerbees who could be of service to the
organization and
there also are many people standing on the side looking for
direction. We
have a great cause and it will take concerted effort to bring it
to pass.
Don't expect someone else to do it. Act as if it were up to you.
Tell as
many as you can about Dr. Keyes and get your communities
organized. We
have only just begun but we must succeed if our country is to
remain free,
and we must work to liberate the unborn who have so few
advocates. Look
beyond this election and look around, see what you can do to
make a
difference. Right now in many ways the media sees Dr. Keyes as
entertainment, or interference with their agenda.
If we don't stand up, then the unborn will have no voice, our
country will
lack true leadership and the cause of freedom could be undone.
Don't be discouraged and don't give up. What we are doing is
worth it.
We are standing up and being counted, representing a moral
constituency
which must not be overlooked, whose voice we must not allow to
be drowned
out. And I for one will support the Constitution of the United
States and
stand with its champion and defender, proudly working towards
the
reestablishment of its true role in our government.
