Both federal taxes and state taxes are also a blame for the price of gas. But, here in Louisiana our state tax is twice as high as federal taxes on gas. Now lets be honest with ourselves.
1. The only ones we have to blame for this problem is us.
We want cheap gas and plenty of it. But for cheap gas we
americans pay the price. With cheap gas, we put many
americans out of work; from Alamaba, Mississippi, Louisiana,
Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, New Mexico, etc (and even
California).
2. States such as Flordia, North Carolina and California
don't want any offshore drilling in there waters.
There are plenty of ways to protect their beaches.
3. When Exxon, Mobil, Shell and so on buy oil from over-
seas we make most of the middle east countries. And
most of that money doesn't make it down to John Q.
Public. Personally, I'd rather keep as much moneies
here in the US.
4. Now, the oil and gas companies are the biggest robbers of
all. Oil service companies (etc. mud logging companies,
directional drilling & survey companies, MWD companies,
etc.) are having to discount their regular prices 50
to 75 per cent in order to aquire their work. But, are
these discounts being pass on to the consumer. I don't
think so.
So if we are going to put the blame somewhere. Lets lay it at the right door where it really belongs. I'm not a fan of Uncle Bill Clinton, but the real blame belongs with us and The Big Oil Companies. Which bring up something else, do the Major Oil companies pay their fair share of taxes?? (I don't think so)
