Art:
First I've heard of it.
Suggest you send this info for the attention of your nearest Postal
Inspector via your local post office. If it's not on the level, they'll
know.

In the meantime I will pass this around to see if other Marines may be aware
of this.
Best
Dick

Gunny,
My name is Art Karin and I'm a member of the John Basilone Detachment Marine

Corps League. At our last meeting we were approached by a group called
concerned citizens and were requested by them to assist them in a petition
drive to honor Sergeant Basilone with a postage stamp. Have you heard of
this
drive? We will of course do all we can to help in this effort to honor his
memory. As someone who has been involved with the postal service, I was
wondering if you could point us in the proper direction as how to best go
about it. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Hello and thank for your interest in our stamp program,
unfortunately
we have no way of know ahead of time as to what stamps were
voted on
to be issued. We have not heard any news on such a stamp
been
considered to be issed by the USPS. If you would like to
submit your
idea to the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee for
consideration, you
may send it to:

Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee
US Postal Service
475 L'Enfant Plaza SW, Rm 4474E
Washington, DC 20260-2437

For a listing of our current stamp subject selection
criteria, please
go to www.stampsonline.com and click on Customer Care,
Stamp
Collecting Questions, and "How are new stamp designs
chosen?..." (the
second question listed).

I hope that helps. Thanks for visiting our website.
