TO: ALL MARINES
***********************
1. I am extremely pleased to announce that "Operation: Arlington Ridge" has finally received official
sanction from HQ-USMC, Public Affairs Dept. for the 225th Anniversary events in November!
Through their assistance and guidance, we will work together to insure a coordinated celebration
during this historic occasion. On behalf of all active and veteran Marines and Naval personnel, I have
expressed our gratitude for their support and have assured them that we will continue to demonstrate
that support to be well-deserved. Ooooh....Rahhhh!
2. We now have an "Official Landing Zone" (LZ) in Arlington! The VFW - John Lyons Post #3150
and Commander Ken Jansen (also a former Marine) have extended an invitation for all "Operation:
Arlington Ridge" attendees to assemble at their Post in November. This beautiful Post, located less
than a 10 minute drive from Arlington Ridge, consists of a large Marine-Navy membership and is a
major contributor to the "Toys for Tots" program. I will keep you apprised of further details and Post
events at a later date. Our thanks goes to Commander Jansen and Jr. Vice Commander Eric
Skrzypczak for their support. Please visit their outstanding website linked from our main page!
3. We have received official support from the Marine Corps League & Auxiliary - Department of
Texas. They have placed our banner link on their website, and will be promoting the 225th
Anniversary celebration in the coming months throughout the Great State of Texas. Please visit their
great website linked from our main page. Our gratitude goes to Ms. Jacquie Stephens, President, and
Mr. Elmer Buckley, Commandant. Welcome, Y'all!
4. I am asking you again to PLEASE VOTE for our site by clicking on the "Top 25 Marine sites"
banner located on our main page. Although we are now #2 in ranking, our DAILY numbers are
slipping! PLEASE vote each time you visit OUR site, and PLEASE visit our site at least once a day.
Our ranking is important in obtaining additional support and sponsorship. It only takes a few seconds
and costs nothing!
In fact, because of our ranking, I have recently been contacted by a MAJOR sponsor and have been
on the phone with them every day this week to work out details. Once those details are completed, I
am going to send out the MOST EXCITING NEWSLETTER you have ever received! This
announcement should be forthcoming shortly, and I assure all of you that you will be as excited as I
am when you see who this famous sponsor is and how they are supporting us. So PLEASE vote
NOW and "stay tuned" for a VERY special announcement!
You are all going to love this one, I promise you!
6. I have been contacted by Ms. Betty Kilbride in the DC area, who has generously offered to be the
"POC" (Point of Contact) for any and all participants who have questions regarding accommodations,
local transportation, etc. during the Anniversary celebration. Betty has worked with the Marine Corps
and the "Toys for Tots" program for over 20 years. She is now the Sales Manager at The Virginian
Suites in Arlington (one of our hotel sponsors), and she may be reached toll-free at 1-800-275-2866
or you may send an E-mail to: Sales@Virginiansuites.com. She has also generously offered to provide
"Government Per Diem" rates at ANY time during the year to our participants! So, if you are planning
a trip to the DC area before November, please give Betty a call. Thanks, Betty!
7. I have been asked by many participants about purchasing tickets for the "Marine Corps Ball". First
of all, no official "Operation: Arlington Ridge" ball is planned. However, I have sent inquiries to
Marine Corps League - National Headquarters and HQ-USMC regarding any balls in the DC area
where tickets are available, and I will keep you advised. Also, if you know of any balls going on in the
Arlington, Va/DC area (Marine Corps Leagues, active or reserve units, etc.), please let me know and
I will share it with everyone.
8. A schedule of events for 10 November 2000 has not yet been completed, but I will advise you as
that information is available.
Our numbers are growing daily at an incredible rate! Once again, I apologize that due to time
constraints, I can't always answer each E-mail individually. However, I do read each one and am
grateful for any suggestions that will make our Operation a success. If you have any ideas that will
benefit our members or wish to provide sponsorship or support, please feel free to contact me.
Additionally, if you do not wish to receive these newsletters, please let me know and I will
immediately honor your request by permanently removing your name and E-mail address from our
data base.
Now...PLEASE VOTE!
