Christie yielded.> <On August 24, 1944, Harder and Hake were on a two-submarine patrol in Lingayen Gulf, Luzon, Phillipines. Spotted by a Japanese destroyer, both submarines dove.The Hake's skipper later reported he counted fifteen depth charges erupt near Harder. When he surfaced , he tried to reach the Harder by radio. He couldn't. She was never seen again.> <<< On August 28, 1945, Dealeys widow, and three children , solemnly accepted his Medal of Honor, and a fourth Navy Cross earned on his 6th war patrol. On his arrival at Fremantel following an earlier mission Genl. Mac Arthur had sent his personal congratulations and a DSC. They also got a Prseidential Unit Citation. At this point the area commander, Adm. Charles A Lockwood, started the paper work for a MOH. (He had recieved 3 previous Navy Crosses). Was the DSC included in the total? From the report I can't tell if the Army DSC was included as a Navy Cross in the final ceremony.
