"Americans today love being lied to"

That’s what an old preacher told me recently. Dr. John Hull
is not just a preacher; he is a man like Jeremiah and John
the Baptist. He tells it like it is; he pulls no punches.
He’s been preaching for over 50 years, and he’s seen a few
things. After reflecting on his statement, I’ve come to
believe that he is exactly right. Americans today do love
being lied to.
Phony faith healers live in palatial dwellings because
people love being lied to. Corrupt politicians stay
ensconced in power because people love being lied to.
Self-aggrandizing newspaper editors are among the highest
paid members of the community because people love being
lied to. Self-professed civil rights leaders live like
kings because people love being lied to. The old preacher
is right!
Americans watched as members of the U.S. Senate took an
oath to God to render an impartial verdict based upon the
merits of the evidence in Clinton’s impeachment trial. Many
of them lied. And most (if not all) of the ones who did
will be reelected because Americans love being lied to.
Republicans in Congress have yet to let the American people
see the classified evidence contained in the Cox report,
evidence that most certainly connects the dots of
treacherous conduct between Washington D.C. and Beijing,
China. Do people care? No, because Americans love being
lied to.
John Danforth exonerated the federal government of any
wrongdoing or cover-up at Waco, and there was no public
protest because Americans love being lied to. Bill Clinton,
Al Gore and Janet Reno are still in office because
Americans love being lied to. The "separation of church and
state" has become the accepted law of the land because
Americans love being lied to. The theory of evolution is
the only acceptable theory regarding origins taught in our
public schools because Americans love being lied to. In
state after state, people vote for legalized gambling
because Americans love being lied to.
Attorneys representing large municipalities procure
unfathomable court settlements against tobacco companies
because Americans love being lied to. We allow our children
to be subjected to "diversity" and "sex education"
propaganda classes because we love being lied to.
Politicians abscond with our liberties, and we seem to love
it! Apparently, there is no end to the duplicity that
Americans will enthusiastically embrace today.
The reason for this seems clear to me: for nearly four
decades now, America has lived in a state of willful
rejection to the "self-evident" truths articulated in the
Declaration of Independence. We no longer recognize our
Creator’s role in our lives, our liberties, or our national
happiness.
No restoration can come to our land without a definite and
deliberate return to these fundamental principles. At this
point, however, it seems that most Americans would rather
accept a lie than admit to the mistake.
