"The bad Americans were the ones who bombed our
country. The good
Americans were the people who opposed the war and the
crimes that
were committed here. President Clinton, because he
protested against
a war that violated the freedom and the independence
of our country,
he was a good American."
- Tran Duc Cuong, director of the Vietnam Institute of
History, remarking
on Bill Clinton's "I Still Need a Legacy" visit to
Hanoi this week, Washington
Post, 11/15/00. Guess it all depends on your
definition of "good."

The night that I saw Clinton on the news in Viet Nam I sent him a scathing e-mail. I know he will probobly never see it but I had to send it anyway. I had held back writing during all of the scandals he brought to this country's headlines. But of all the unmitigated gall for him to go to Viet Nam on taxpayers money when he was to cowardly to go when his country needed him to fight. He has now spit in the eye of every Viet Nam Vet. As far as I am concerned, this is the most despicable thing he has done since he went into politics! The only peace I get through all of this is he will answer to God for all of his behavior one day. I,unfortunately, believe that the voters spit in the veterans' eyes when they elected, then re-elected,this master opportunist whose only firm stand is that of self advancement.

Ask the boat people, many who died trying, who went to sea in rickety craft to get away from VietNam after the Americans left. Who the hell was trying to get in? It'd be fine with me if Clinton goes to VietNam and stays. Maybe he can lift that country's morals and values the way he did here.
