Ok, so i got an email apparently from a Lisa M Steenson. She says that the February 2009 bait "Steenson" is about her family, i guess, and wants it taken off the blog. I personally don't care, we can leave it up, what is she gonna do? But did anyone else here about this? Let me know, cuz there is absolutely nothing else going on in the forum.

Adrian

If I wrote that bait and it got published, I'd want it taken down as well.

Call me crazy, but could we not still publish baits? I've written some stuff, why not just post the baits here, or on a blog? Anyone up for it?

Yeah, i mean, I'd be game for it. I'll even take the time to post them if you send it to me. But someone clear it with Johnny first, cuz I don't want to turn around in Wal-Mart to realize i'm being followed by a tank top wearing crazed gunman........

Maybe each writer can go under a gimmicky, obscure alter ego to increase the number of baits.

I'll be Dang Lin-Wang, a chinese immigrant that doesn't speak the language too well, but writes baits in perfect English. Also, newly found husband of Austin Kincaid. And just for fun, I'll grave rob Hester.

I personally have been following the slow demise of this site since it changed from the oscar igloo, and my predictions have been proven. The blog sucks, the new staff is weak, the main predictions are at times ludicrous, and worst of all, Bait an Oscar has just about ceased to exist.
My suggestion is too just start up a blog to post baits, have a rotating panel of readers/judges and carry on that way. I myself am busy with my own blog, the oscar hut, hich I created in part due to this trash shell called awards circuit, but I would be more than happy to join in and help any effort to get this contest moving again. And by the way, where has Johnny been? You'd think he would at least want to comment on how dismall this site has become, on how the ammount of regular users have seemed to diminish since only Feb., or how the contest is at a standstill.
In short, why the hell cant the oscar igloo come back ?

I've been thinking, for a quite a long while, that a new community is in order for the BAO contest. Personally, at the very least I've been hoping for a new message board because I'm not crazy about the Network54... community, or whatever you want to call it. There are better message board hosting sites that are much more customizable and efficient. In a perfect world, I'd love to have an actual website dedicated to the baits complete with a history page of all nominees & winners and whatnot (which I personally feel would attract more people to the contest alone), or a wiki page, or something. But, all of that can be done just as easily on any message board hosting site if people are actually willing to maintain it (I know I would be).

It's nothing against Johnny, since I do appreciate the effort he's put into the contest since the very beginning. But, in my personal opinion, he needs a lot of help if he wants to reinvigorate the contest because the problem right now is that it's slow and boring, even during months where we're actually having baits published. I know that I have a lot of time on my hands, and I'm sure a lot of people are willing to lend time to help the contest evolve from its current state to something bigger, something grander. I think ultimately the first step is to establish a new "home base", though, perhaps demoting ourselves to an affiliate of or completely "disenfranchising" ourselves from Awards Circuit. I know Johnny once said that he would be fine with that so long as we changed the name of the contest or whatever, and I know personally that I don't care about slightly changing the name if it means making the contest fun again. If that's the only request he truly has.

Things to do for the new site........

No score for this post
June 5 2009, 9:00 PM

Ok, everyone who wants to help........

Here's what you can do.
1. Tommorrow, in the forum on the new site, I'm going to post in the "News from the Chief" section asking all current baiters who want to keep baiting to post their name along with their email address.

2. Chris, if you could email me whatever you can get on past winners (Big 8 Only) for each month(if you can) that would be great. Cuz then I could post them in that section. Also, anyone who has a list of all Best of the Month winning Authors, that could help. We already have the Nominated and Winning Authors from the thread here, so no need for that.

3. Anyone who wants to make a blog for the site, go ahead. When its made, sent me an email telling me about it, and a link to it. I will then post a link, title of blog, author, and short description of the blog on the "Follow the Blogs" section.

4. We shouldn't start baiting this month. Its too late, and the site is too new. So let's just get those baits ready for next month. You can start sending them to me on the first of July. You will have til the 12th, and then I will post what I have. Reviews, awards, and posters/FYC will go as they always have, except on the NEW forum.

5. Anyone has any questions, suggestions, or modification ideas for the new site and contest, please, email me about it. I'm not the boss of the contest, im just making the website lol

Heya! I will still be around until July 2nd if I can assist. I will be serving as a missionary for 2 years in London after that so it will technically be my retirement, but if I can help get the contest back on its feet I'd love to help.
