Since there are so many animated films this year, I think it will be five nominees-
1. Monster House
2. Cars
3. A Scanner Darkly
4. Flushed Away
5. Over the Hedge

I personally found the scripting for Monster's House really awful. The dialouge and character development etc, were not particularly stunning. It's not bad for an attempt at a more horrific and macabre form of animation. But to me, at most it's a popcorn movie you watch during your free tim, not award-winning standard.

"what determins the amount of nominees in this category?"
If there are 15 or less films in consideration, then there are 3 nominees. If there are 16 or more, there are 5. Thus, this year will have 5 nominees (I'm only about 75% sure, so don't quote me, lol).

Happy Feet is directed by George Miller. You know, the guy who made Mad Max and Babe. I hear its not just a simple cgi film about dancing penguins, but that the trailer hid a lot of the picture's darker/political elements. That combined with bix box office numbers could propel it to the top 3.

**Over the Hedge** (Pixar has lost to DreamWorks before)
Cars
Happy Feet
Ice Age: The Melt Down
Curious George (not likely, but I've always loved the books and thuroughly enjoyed this film.)
Dreams are like taco salad. Although they may be fresh, one day they will be gone!
