I learned long ago that the Academy generally doesn't make the best decisions, but it has to, just HAS TO see the greatness that is Eastern Promises. David Cronenberg was snubbed on A History of Violence, could they at least give him a nomination this year? Best Picture, Screenplay, and Acting nods in all four categories would be nice too, but that would also be asking for way too much.

I saw an early screening and I loved it. Cronenberg deserves a directorial nod, Viggo was amazing as well as Naomi Watts, though the best bet for an acting nod I think is Armin Mueller Stahl who is chillingly scary as the mobster who hides his cold core behind a welcoming and warm resteraunt owner.
The screenplay is great as well and I have no doubt that tis i'll get at least one nod.

i went and aw it last night. it was a great film, but i think it will recieve nods for actor (mortensen), supp actor (muhler -stahl), and original screenplay (and possible cronenberg as the lonely director nominee). i just dont see it getting a best pic nod. it was an excellent film, but i just dont feel it will make it to the top 5
