Summary: Benjamin Button is the big winner with 6 Oscars. It edges out its main competition, Slumdog Millionaire, which takes Adapted Screenplay and Film Editing, two respected awards that show that it hasn't gone unnoticed. Sean Penn is Milk's recognition at the Oscars and takes his second BA home. Ledger wins as expected. Kate Winslet takes the win for Supporting Actress in recognition of a great performance in a film that didn't quite make the BP cut. Meryl Streep takes Best Actress mainly because she's Meryl and hasn't won in 26 years, which is kind of shocking considering the performances she's given. The Dark Knight scrapes out a few tech awards and Wall-E gets one too. The techs really never make that much sense because few voters in the Academy actually get them, but Benjamin Button had incredible Makeup and Visual Effects, so it takes most of them. Woody Allen wins a Lifetime Achievement Screenplay award, beating out superior films, but he's Woody so the Academy doesn't care. Original Song goes to The Boss for the Wrestler because he's the only person anyone's heard of in that category. All in all, a big night for the Button crew, while the Dark Knight and Slumdog take the scraps left over.

I would be very pleased if those were the actual results (plus your summary makes sense considering how the academy generally votes). I would love to see TDK take best picture, but I would be completely ok with TCCOBB taking that; I also think Kate Winslet was amazing in RR, but if she won for TR instead I would still be happy b/c I hear that her performance there is just as brillant (if not better). I think everyone should take note of these predictions
