Relatively new fisherman here! I was wondering what are considered the top brands, rods, reel, and line for starters. Any opinions on this matter would help. Thanks!
Try Temple Fork Outfitters. They have some nice rods and the price is definitely right.

I would suggest that you best the best reel that you can afford. Backing up this statement is versatility. You may think that you only want to fish for cold water trout - 3 to 6 weight lines. You may want to fish for other freshwater fish - 4-8 weight lines. If there is any saltwater in your blood count on 6-10 weight lines.
The drag is, in my opinion, the most important part. If you only fish for "smallish" fish, then you won't be needing 200 yards of backing on the reel. I you prefer Tarpon, shark, 30+ Pound redfish then you better go with something in the 150-250 yard capacity of backing.
