I do know DT has changed drummers but given the quality elsewhere I doubt it would hurt them too much and after reading Mr Mangini's Wiki, sounds like he has the chops to cover percussion. LOL and after watching auditions, he'll do
King Crimson has morphed into a double trio, 2 guitar, 2 drum, 2 stick (bass). And they have been doing a lot of morphing with band members, trying things and called many of the attempts ProjecKts I, II etc.. I knew when I saw them touring as the power trio and stickmen that at some point half of Crimson's new line-up would be on stage (in essence a ProjecKt), including the singer and then all 6 would. I guess something developed along the way to morph the six into Crimson ProjecKt.
Belew is a must see because Zappa found him, Bowie stole him, David Byrne borrowed him and Fripp's had his finger's on him ever since ......... oh yeah Simon used his services a bit too. LOL nice resume. Mr Levin is just as in demand though a lot of that is session work. Hell he's Peter Gabriel's bass player and Crimson's at the same time besides this project with Adrian and Pat, Marcus and the kids (prodigies). I doubt anyone has played on so many different artist's albums.
And thank you for pointing out the concert. Looks like I'm headed to the Warner Theater on 7/13. Hmmmmmm, music on Friday the 13th, yeah why not. With Dream Theater, they can lean a tad to Metal at times, being called a progressive metal band.
