I have never followed or been a fan of the sport of hockey,
but Game 1 of this year's Stanley Cup finals made me a fan!
Not because it was an exciting overtime victory for the KINGS,
but rather because of the fact it was on television...
On Wednesday, Heather convinced me to ride the Palm Springs Tram.
I happen to be TERRORfied
and the very idea of riding a cable for 2 1/2 miles,
from the Valley Station (2643ft.)
to the Mountain Station (8516ft.),
was nothing I ever really wanted to do... EVER.
As we began our ascent,
it was only a matter of moments
before I was down on the floor,
eyes closed tightly,
and both arms clutching a pole
like a stripper in a hurricane...
I was hanging on for dear life!!!
It takes 10 minutes to get to the top of the mountain.

Safely at the top...
after a walkabout and a nice dinner with breath taking veiws,
I knew that the time to return to the tram was getting close.
THEN, and thank goodness for this... we discovered the pub.
It turns out, Heather's Folks (they had invited us on this adventure)
are big time LA KINGS fans... Heather, too (and I didn't know that).
So, as long as the game was on the television... we were staying on the ground.
Thank you for the overtime!
...by the end of the game I was a fan,
and the excitement of the KINGS victory
carried us safely back down the mountain,
as we enjoyed the twinkling lights of Palm Springs.
