IPSC ANNUAL CERTIFICATES
------------------------
First let me begin by apologizing for not yet sending the annual certificates. We held them because I wanted to include the 2008 IROA ID cards. However, the cards have not appeared so rather than continue to wait, we will send the certificates out by next week.

IROA SEMINARS
-------------
Daan Kemp and the Seminar Services Committee have finalized updating and restructuring of the Level I Seminar package which is now available on the Regional Director's page.

The Level II Seminars are currently being developed and might take a little more time because they will be discipline specific. This means we will have an independent two-day Level II Seminar emphasizing multi-stage match management and course design for each discipline: Level II Handgun Seminar, Level II Shotgun Seminar, and Level II Rifle Seminar.

The upcoming schedules for Level I and Level II Seminars can be found on the Calendar page under Events & Seminars.

IROA PROMOTIONS
---------------
Earlier this year, we launched the on-line system for IROA promotions. Thanks to Ian Fachie and the IROA committee. IROA members who are eligible for promotion may apply on-line and have their application reviewed and assessed by the IROA committee members much more efficiently than in the past.

NEW IROA IMAGE
--------------
The new IROA shirts are ready to ship to the Regional Directors for distribution to the individual IROA members. If all goes according to plan, you should start receiving the new 'official' shirts in the next week or two.

A new recognition has been added. For every five years of IROA service, a gold star will be embroidered on the band of the shirt pocket. Shirts without any stars will arrive first and shirts with stars should follow in a couple of weeks.

All shirts will come with all the patches embroidered and the country flag included so the flag sizes remain consistent. Officials may not add names, ranks, or anything else to the new shirts.

IPSC SAFETY ORIENTATION COURSES
-------------------------------
I am pleased to announce that Des Lilley and the Safety Orientation Committee are finalizing the Handgun Orientation Course.

The two-day Handgun Orientation Course is designed for new members as an introduction to IPSC, safe gun handling and safe shooting. It will include an overview of IPSC history, structure, competition rules and procedures, basic equipment, holster (as a safety device), belt and mag pouches, eye and ear protection, the importance and use of Safety Areas, the importance and use of the commands, dry firing, and proficiencies of safe shooting.

The same two-day course will be available later this year for Shotgun and Rifle.

INTERNATIONAL LEGISLATION COMMITTEE (ILC)
-----------------------------------------
The ILC was created to act as a clearing house for information to assist Regional Directorates with recommendations for action and strategies concerning, but not limited to, the politics of sports and governmental matters. The ILC will provide a repository of much needed resources on sports, governmental and environmental matters plus recommended strategies and guidance.

After a meeting in Nuremberg with Stephen Petroni (IPSC Malta), I asked Stephen if he would head up this committee and act as our 'ambassador' to organizations like WFSA, ESSA, and GAISF, etc.

IPSC REGIONS ON-LINE RECORD
---------------------------
Thanks again to Ian Fachie we have added an informational feature to the Region's on-line record which will allow directors to easily view the current financial status of the Region. Please take a look and let us know if there are any questions.

IPSC CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM
--------------------------
Chris Zielinski has upgraded WinMSS so ICS scores and match results no longer use email to send the results. With this new version of WinMSS 5.1 (free to download), you only need an Internet connection and the click of the mouse to send in scores and results to HQ.

AN ADVENTURE IN PARADISE
------------------------
No doubt about it... World Shoot XV in Bali will break all existing records; the most competitors, most officials, most excitement, and most fun! Regional Director Bambang Trihatmodjo has gathered a very serious and very talented team headed by Match Director Djoko Soeroso to present the World's Best IPSC Match. Our thanks also to Vince Pinto for creating a very informative World Shoot Web Site.

The Chinese say "May you live in interesting times." Well, that certainly applies to IPSC. We continue to move forward... by honoring the past, being positive about the present, and remaining passionate about the future.

You're in the loop...
