I had a low power pistol scope on my 22/45. i think it was 2x but the price was right and i saw a guy shooting the same set up at the range and i thought it was cool looking. Cool looking yes...Heavy absolutely...hard to keep steady? YUP.
I recent bought a Red Dot Scope for the same pistol. have only gotten to use it at the indoor range at about 25 feet but after shooting the center outta a silloete target with my other pistol i shot up the little "Legend" target in the upper corner about 5" diameter and was speed shooting it with about 80% accuracy, shooting as fast as the dot came to rest on the target. I had a blast.
Hence, Lighter, Easier, Faster = Better.
Just a plinkers .02 hunters and long range shooters might have other things to say but i used to hit stationary skeet with iron sights at 50 yards occasionally but close enough to try again when i missed
