Volquartsen mills slots in the reciever on their conversions for 3/8's or tip-off rings. This allows the rings to be mounted to the pistol without a scope base. I have two mark ll's done this way and this works well. Most gunsmiths should be able to do this for you or you can call Volquartsen themselves to see if they offer this service. P. S.
