As an active pistol shooter of many years, to get good is a daunting task. I'm still not good compared to many of the folks with whom I shoot.
Here are three tricks to help you:
1: Put up a blank target, or staple the back side up. Then shoot at the center of the target, concentrating only on the sight alignment. You may be surprised!
2: Have someone else load your gun, one round at a time, but not letting you watch. Ask him/her to use a loaded round and then on occasion put in an emplty. You will know immediately if you flinch.
3: Put up a target or a blank as in exercise 1. Then load a full magazine and shoot all 10 shots without stopping - about 1 shot per second or wahtever you are comfortable with. Concentrate on sight alignment and SHOOT. In slow fire many people spend too much time second-guessing themselves - is the sight picture good, shouls I shoot, should I wait, etc.
The good news is .22 ammo is cheap. Use a good ammo but don't pay a lot. You would not gain the benefit from premium ammo at this point.
