I suppose if you are doing structured target shooting, it would probably be best to learn to shoot one handed, UIT style. Just plinking, try whatever enables you to HIT your target. Now THAT'S gun control!! You have to be disciplined enough in two handed shooting to not wrap your weak thumb around the hammer/slide/bolt area. One handed shooting can be more fatiguing, till you get used to it. Here at my club, we step right up to the bench in front of us (waist high) so that learning target shooters have a place to lower their hands to with a loaded pistol and not be pointing their guns at their feet! Not to ridicule your post, Dave, on combat stances; I found it informative and interesting, but most of us aren't expecting "baddies" while we are at the range ripping up X's and pop cans with our .22's. I even practice shooting one handed with my left hand (I'm right handed) I find it a learning experience trying to control my arc of movement with my left hand!
