That is true, a closed bolt wouldn't work with fishing line. However, Randy had one that was jammed with the bolt an eigth of an inch from being fully closed and that's why I suggested using the fishing line loop. Had he mentioned a fully closed bolt, then I would have suggested a procedure like the one you mentioned using a jewlers screwdriver and prying the extractor spring plunger rearward.
