Hola Rafa

I am sure the above makes absolutely no grammatical sense. My Spanish is atrocious. Please forgive the butchery of the Spanish language :).

Sandi, no one butchers the Spanish language like a Mexican lol!! I'm always SHAMED when my cousin, who is a language teacher (and a WHITE BOY from TN!!!) speaks Spanish...as in Spanish from Spain. The shameful thing is not only is there Spainard blood on BOTH sides of my family...and not THAT far down the line! Anyway, his Spanish is not only "correct" but it's beaaaaaaaautiful. Personally, my favorite language has always been Portuguese.

PC speaks Portuguese -- Italian too. It makes me insane that he can speak 4 -- FOUR!! -- languages while I have struggled with learning Spanish. Between 5 years in school and 28 with him I still cannot speak with my in laws on the phone.

That is the totality of our communication. I get nervous and forget every word I know.
BTW, PC taught me to to say I don't understand like that. He said saying it that way kind of blames them for speaking too fast. Never mind that my sorry ass doesn't understand when they hable despacio anyway.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHa!! Sandi I'm friggin ROLLIN!!! I'm sure all of PC's callers would LOVE to know no matter HOW despacio they 're speaking, you can't understand anyway LOL!!!! My cousin is just like PC.. He's sooo good with languages. He speaks Spanish, French fluently, knows bits and pieces of Italian and is working on learning, either Japanese or Chinese. I think it's Japanese. He has to study characters, which I know they BOTH have but I think it might be Japanese because that would be more practical for his job than Chinese. Anyway, they're grooming him to take over the language dept when the current director retires.

I am totally amazed at Westerners who can pick up any language using characters. You not only have to get the vocabulary and pronunciation but a whole new way of thinking. Same thing with the Russian and Greek alphabet. It really is quite an accomplishment.
