What are you guys using to get a good bass sound when recording on your PC's? "direct" "bass pods" "mic'd bass amp/cabs"??

How do you get them to come through in the mix, especially low B stuff??

Thanks
Zander

Good Question Zander,
I always have to spend a lot of time "sculpting" the string bass tracks in post production with the compressors & EQs that are in my software.

a few months ago i asked the guitar player of a band i like the how the hell they get "that sound".........said all he used a "Presonus" and just plugged the bass straight in.

Dude....I use the same cakewalk 9 as you do for some finishing stuff but my main audio editing is done thru "cool edit 2.0".....an older version that supports the VST plug-ins that i like.

There are WAY better programs out there to work with.....like the "pro tools" etc.

they all basically do the same thing tho.....they are only as good as the dude using them.

you get it.

Another thing,
The timing of your question about recording bass guitar totally fit with what i'm up against.

we finally got a real bass player that fell into place....."Waffles"

Fat boy is cool as ****.........he "sounds" real.

but how to record stuff.....IDK

working on it.
