Hi Reb, how are you doing? First of all I love your job man...your playing style...it is amazing. I come from Brazil and I am a guitar player as well. Not so good like you I must to say! sad.gif
I just wanted to tell you about the guitars...Pau-Ferro is not the brazilain rosewood. It is a very nice wood for build guitars anyway. The "brazilian rosewood" is the Jacarandá, from Bahia-Brazil. That is now a very rare wood and it is under protection law...I don't know how PRS still got that wood...maybe an old stock...how knows?
Have a look on my brazilian strat made by Giannini. It has the Pau-Ferro fretboard as well.
I loved the Whitesnake DVD...You and Dough are kicking the asses!
Thaks for your attention my dear. Keep on rocking!

Hi Adelmo

Pau Ferro as you said is not brazilian rosewood.. is bolivian rosewood.BUt these necks are sweet to play, very hard pěeces but very smooth and soft to feel and play indeed.

Cheersˇˇ

That wood is also found in Brazil so is known also by Brazilian rosewood. It is also known by the names morado, palo santos, caviuna, Brazilian ironwood, and Bolivian rosewood, though it is not actually rosewood.

Javier with some help from the net.

No my dear. Like I said Brazilian Rosewood is JACARANDA. Caviuna, Pau-Ferro and Jacaranda are not the same wood at all. They are similar, but not the same. Jacaranda is a very hard wood to find nowadays. Brazil is plenty of Pau-Ferro and caviuna instead.

See you!

Brazilian rosewood and Bolivian rosewood are not the same. Brazilian rosewood was used for years to make acoustic guitars and was banned from harvest in the early 90's to prevent extinction.

Yes...exactly. I am from Brazil and I know what I am saying.
The point is: Pau-Ferro is not Brazilian Rowewood like Rob said about your Suhr guitar. The real brazilian rosewood is called in Brazil JACARANDA. Pau-Ferro is another type of wood. Very nice wood but is not the same. You can get Jacaranda anymore.

Oh yeah! You are right. The color is different too. Jacaranda is darker...
PRS still got that wood....nowadays it is impossible to cut them. You need many documents and authorizations...

Take a look:

Yeah. So, I guess I just will say rosewood next time. I'll ask John. The guitar was built in 1986.
