Anyone Know if there are any farms in PNG? And if so, the breed (?) of sea cucumbers they farm, and where.
Many thanks!

Surely there must be farms somewhere. What does one do with sea cucumbers anyway (pardon my ignorance)? Delicacy?

Hehe Anon,
you may know them better as Beche De Mer, or Trepang.

The Asians (Indonesians, Malays, etc) have been coming down into Australian waters and collecting them, long before us Whiteys arrived and stopped them doing it.

I have never eaten them myself, but appparently they are dried first.

Regards......Ralph.

Aquaculture of sea cumcumbers is not establish as yet. Currently we obtain sea cucumbers straight from their natural habit.NFA introduced a period for harvest restriction during a year. If you want more information, you should contact NFA.
