With all the World War Gum issues, I was lamenting the fact that there weren't any tobacco issues to show. Then it occurred to me, of course there is, and I still have some. Although the best ones are long gone. Not very exciting, but they were real photos of WWI taken by American Photographers in 1914-1915 when the USA was still neutral. So we had pics on both sides of the war.

I'm just starting this set and wanted to bump this thread. There doesn't seem to be too much out there on the card web sites or ebay. In fact, this is the only thread I could find in the forum on T121. Does anyone have any for sale or know a site that does? I posted in the B/S/T also. Thanks,

I was surprised to see this thread. And even more surprised that I started it.
There was a lot of 230 out of 250 that sold last month for $250. Half had penned initials on the back. But it was a very good buy nonetheless. I passed due to funds at the time but wished I had grabbed them.
They don't come up for sale very often. I would say $3 each in VG condition. One sold last week for $5.

I'll chime in on this discussion as I owned about 3/4 of a set at one time and sold it to cwick74 a few years ago. It is the only non-sports set I regret selling and most of the cards I sold were in excellent condition. It is a very difficult set to complete and I do not know anyone who has a complete set. I'm sure there are a couple in existence somewhere. If you're not condition picky, then I suppose you can complete it with some luck and perserverance. I don't know of any cards which are more difficult to obtain than any others in the set but it seems tough to finish once you are within 10 cards of completion. There are 250 cards in the set. Is there anyone on the board who has a complete set of these?

Just got an email from someone who is 5 away from completing. The set that sold last month was pretty darn close too. It's not an impossible set, but most I see are in rough shape.
Don, I'll sell you all the rest after I look through to see if I have any of the missing 5.

Dan,
Thanks for taking the time to put up images from this set. As someone who doesn't have a lot of spare time, I really do appreciate your efforts in posting pictures of this set and all of the other gallery images.
My favorite card in this set is the one that shows a close-up side view of an airplane in flight with a couple of guys getting ready to drop bombs on the enemy. Unfortunately, I can't recall the card number.

That airplane card is what got me interested in the set. I got a copy of American Tobacco Cards last week and started looking through it. There's a write up on the T121 set in there with that card pictured (didn't say what # though).
I think it's really a great set. I'm a little disappointed that it seems like it will be a hard set to complete though.

I have the complete set so I can fill in any holes you have for your webpage.
Most of mine are in good shape - I still need to upgrade 29, 63, 96, 103, 108, 121, 141, 200, 211, 222 (anyone have any extras of these?!). I didn't notice that there were any short-prints - seemed to be more the case of random chance in finding any one particular subject out of 250.
I got the majority of the set in two or three large batches that I combined, then chipped away at the rest over a number of years.
I was down to missing only one card when I went to this paper collectible show one day about 8 years ago. I saw this table where the guy had about 6 or so T121's. I figured, what are the odds he has the one I need, but went ahead & checked them anyway. To my surprise (and delight), one of the six was the last card needed to finish the set - and what made it even better was that I only paid a couple of bucks for it! He could have named some ridiculously high price & I would still have paid it.
Since then, I haven't seen that many cards from this series, though I stopped looking as hard after I'd finished the set. It seems like there are a couple of large batches that collectors have put together, but after that it's just a card or two here & there. I think some of the large batches have gotten passed around because eventually the collector gives up on ever finishing the set. In my case, I guess I just got lucky.
