Question for the T59ers

I picked up a large group of flag cards some time ago and I'm very slowly going through them. Most were scrapbooked, so, as this is just a set for me, I'm taking my time and assembling them piece by piece.

I came across one card that puzzles me. The back was originally a Recruit and the card measurements are the same as the T59s, but a Dockman back is over the original back. Since the Dockmans are a little narrower than the T59s, I never would have assumed that the cards were the same - can any scholar out there help me figure this out?

Edited to add: BTW, this card measures 1-5/8" x 2-13/16"

It is very difficult to see the Dockman back on the scan, so I am just guessing on general principles.

Did you soak them from the album? If not, it is possible that the page included both T59s and Dockmans and, during the soaking, a Dockman back got dislodged and was re-applied to the wrong card.

Yes, I am soaking this collection from an old album. I'm not sure why the scan came up so small, but let's try this:

If you soaked it yourself, I can't really propose an answer, (unless it was previously soaked before being inserted in the album you have.)

Even though the designs are the same, the fronts of the Dockman cards are different from the T59s, so it is clear this was not meant to be distributed with Flag Gum.

I ran into something similar where I had a Red Sub Rosa on top of a Red Recruit. But I have never seen any evidence of intentional layering of backs.

Furtherly weird by the fact that it is not only larger than the Dockmans but larger even than the T59s.
