Are these popular ?

Who would be the main cards ? U.S. Grant ? Fremont ?

Price range between the sought after cards versus the commons ? I see some selling as low as $5 and some for $50.

Help would be appreciated

Todd,

It's a nice set for history buffs like myself. I'd say its popularity is growing. When I first started collecting these I could routinely pick up a specimen for $5 to $10 in Vg or better condition. Now it's more like $20 to $30. If you can find them in decent shape for $5 buy em all.

PSA graded cards demand a premium. PSA 5's could cost you 3 figures if exposed at auction, PSA 8's go for nearly $400.

If your patient you could easily complete the 100 card set. The set was issued in 2 series of 50 cards each. There are 5 different backs--Royal Bengal, Pan Handle Scrap, Pan Handle Scrap(silver stock), Miner's Extra, and Natural Leaf. Natural Leaf is tough! Royal Bengal is by far the most common. I have a growing ambition to put together a master set...that is a 500 card set, each subject with the 5 different backs.

The cards are flat out beautiful. The backs have well written, interesting reads. The higher demand cards are Grant, Lee, Geronimo, Lincoln, Crockett...the big names of history.
