hello fella's,
my 11 year old son loves the 1966 batman black set, i have a beauty of a mint set, i want to have it framed and matted for him, does anyone know the best way without damaging the cards?? also while i'm at it i have a 1950 wild man set uncut 6 sheets 18 per sheet, after seeing the superman uncut set in mastro done so nice i wanted to get this one done. my only fear is the person doing it not knowing the importance of the sheets, and doing some damage because or the process. thanks....

I once had an Arm and Hammer Bird set matted and framed for someone I knew who was a bird lover. I took one of the cards to a nice frame shop where they measured the card and then cut a custom matte to fit the entire set. It looked great, probably cost a couple hundred dollars.

matted and framed. It's expensive to do right - not worth it if it's soon for sale - let's one feel it's secure - can be viewed without fear of damage - harder to ship - makes the piece look better. I have some albums framed and a grouping of tin types as well as some card proof sheets. They're entrenched in my accumulation for the moment so I spent the extra bucks for the framing from a conservator/framer. I like to see my "stuff"....

Its a fairly simple proposition to create your own as you can see from 4 of 5 pics to "do it yourself". You can go to A.C. Moore or any number of craft stores. Find your size frame and find pre cut ACID FREE matte and ta da!This would be my choice for the uncut wildman sheets. If money is no object let a pro do it$$$ The one print has a celluloid botton (close up) recessed to go along with it. Very nice but expensive.I Never tried to frame individual cards either raw or graded, would think you need a pro there.
Hope this helps.
BTW NO SUNLIGHT can hit them any time of the day or your cards/uncut sheet will bleach out in a very short time. I have never heard of any UV glass that will protect any length of time. Though you should ask for it ,for sure.

Marty,
Great work on framing up that Batman set . . . absolutely gorgeous, a work of art! Your son must be delighted.
Also nice to see that Home Defense set in the uncut sheets -- looks like the one that was up on Mastros a couple years back, which went at a relatively bargain price..... couple grand as I recall. ( To be honest, I lowballed the bid, went to sleep too early and have regretted it ever since. But now, at least can be glad to see it went to a good home/collection!)
Cheers,
Ralph

between the beautiful gothic art work of the batman set and the really beautiful way it was framed and matted for display, this has to be your sons favorite birthday gift.
