Interesting Auction

In conjunction with Non-Sport Update magazine, we run phone-bid auctions. The auctions are sort of old-fashioned and a lot of fun. Our upcoming auction (bidding begins 8/4 and ends 8/10) has many interesting items for members of this forum. Please look at the list of items and the auction rules at http://www.nonsportupdate.com/consignment_auction_2008_04.htm

Thanks for looking and good luck if you bid.

Tom,

Is Roxanne's coming over here to promote her NSU auction the olive branch we've been waiting for, to start cross promotion and collaboration between NSU's non-sport forum and ours?

Maybe a year ago, I put a post onto the NSU NS board, answering a question about vintage cards that had been raised by their member. At the same time, I took the opportunity to invite all their members to come see our N54-NS forum.

My post was removed by a NSU forum moderator for somehow violating board policy -- apparently they have a rule is that there can be no reference to 'competing' forums or something like that (tho my view is that this isn't competition, it is collaboration: it's a big, healthy NS community with room for everyone to pursue their hobby/collecting interests).  Seems an unnecessary and unhelpful rule. Tom, in a thread about this (below) then expanded upon the disappointing state of inter-forum relations between N54-NS and NSU-NS.  http://www.network54.com/Forum/526604/thread/1200871852/Re-+NSU+CardTalk+Forum

I'm hoping this can now all change. Anyway, Moderator Tom, your allowing her post to stand here would seem to give them a chance for some reciprocation, no?

They're promoting an auction with gross overgrading. I just took a look at an Indian Gum card listed at near mint that is no better than EX.

The non-sports community is not that large. Both message boards should advertise the other...

to nonsports update chat forum on our links page. Last fall, Harris Toser added a link to our forum on their links page. Roxanne emailed me about posting the auction. Things are fine between the forums. No East Coast / West Coast Rapper thing here..........wish them the best of luck with the auction. There are some nice vintage items in the auction. Nice people as well...........

Tom, thanks for the update.

Had no idea things had moved forward so well.

This, indeed, is good news.
