Thought this was an interesting auction. The album sold for about 50% more than they typically might. To confound the issue - the listing for this popular but available Civil War premium shows it has what I would call two generic covers. I have seen hundreds of albums and perhaps thousands of tobacco advertising pieces. It is hard for me to believe that one of the two most prolific advertisers of 19th century tobacco products would leave off references to themselves from something as noticible as a front cover of a premium. As the covers were most prone to damage i suggest simply that contemporaniously someone just put a new cover on. Perhaps it was captured by the printer or a worker during production. Just no way I can believe something like they ran out of the original covers or anything like that. BTW - the only TRUE hardbacked album I know of was picked-up on eBay last year or so - the Allen & Ginter Flags album. I don't really consider the Buchner "album" to be an album

. Can anyone add any salient information or personal observation? Did a member buy this and if so could they explain more about how it's bound? Just as an aside one of my best buys at the national was this album. The lithography is as usual extraordinary.....
