There is an E.H Shackleton in the T118 World's Greatest Explorers set. Is that him?

That card is probably the only Shackleton, he was not as respected as an explorer in his contemporary times as he is today; making vintage images of him scarce. There is a possibility of British Cigarette cards of Shackleton; but as far as US tobacco cards go I don't think there is any more than the T-118 card.

He is easy to miss since they put his name in blue against the blue background of the south pole. Wish I had a dupe, but it is a nice set.

I have a Shackleton dupe, not in the greatest shape but it's yours if you want it. Just send me your address by email.

Here he is in Players' "A Series of Polar Exploration". A few other cards in that and in the 2nd Polar series feature his colleagues and exploits.

A funny story about SHACKLETON & his expedition: My grandmother dated one of the guys on his team who went with him to the pole. When my grandmother passed away, we opened her safety deposit box and there was an envelope that said "Marth Lee's Frozen Assets". We opened it with trembling hands and discovered some love letters from the chap written on the ship during the expedition and mailed with a special seal that said something to the effect of "The Shackleton Expedition to the Pole" with the date and such. It wasn't quite the "frozen asset" we hoped, but it did "break the ice" at an otherwise somber event!
